when to change props?
I have a CRRC 26cc engine that I'm breaking in on a stand now. I have about an hour and 45 mins on it now. It calls for at least 2 hours of running for break in. I'm useing a cheap master airscrew 16-8 K series to break it in and have a 17-8 Zoar on the shelf. How long should I run the engine before changeing them out? I planned on running it another 45 to an hour and then putting it in the plane and flying it with the 16-8 to see how It does.

RE: when to change props?
The engine would be happier breaking in with the prop you intend to use, properly tuned and in the air, as compared to a potential poor cooling environment while breaking them in on a static stand. You'll be making more noise than anything with the MA prop....I'd mount the xoar, tune properly and fly. Just take it easy the first several flights, with a full cool down between flights.

You're just wasting fuel and time. Put the damn thing on an airplane and fly it. Tune it for max RPM and then richen the high speed needle 200RPM. Set the low speed for good transition. Go fly it.
You could have been flying it for the last hour and 45 minutes. [sm=lol.gif]

RE: when to change props?
Does CRRC suggest you break it in on the ground like that? I like to run a new engine on the ground just long enough to make any adjustments needed and then go fly.
My fear is that I will burn up a engine by running it on the ground like you have.
