Sealing Hinge Line onUS60
Thouroughly clean the wing.
Disconnect the aileron clevices.
deflect the aileron upward as far as the hinge will allow.
Run 2 inch packing tape over the hinge line, affixing to the main wing panel, NOT the aileron. (yet) Appx 3/4 inch should be on the wing's lower surface, the other 1 1/4 inch should be hanging free.
Tuck the tape into the hinge line, adhering right up to the hinges, then adhere to the aileron itself.
flex the aileron a few times to ensure free movement.
Optionally you can do this to the upper surface too. This helps prevent fuel seepage from causing the tape to peel out of the hinge line. But it can cause the hinges to stiffen dramaticly. This system works wonders with the CA hinges... the tape becomes the hinge, full span of the ailerons, and the CA hinges become rip-stop reinforcements. If planning to do this... allow just a bit MORE gap than normal (4 sheets paper instead of 1 slading between aileron and wing when nstalng the CA hinges) to prevent the stiff hinge line.
You can also do this with Monokote or other iron-on covering material... Same effect. A bit easier to handle when applying it as the heat activation f the adhesive prevents early adhesion where you don't want it yet.
