I finally finished my nitro to brushless conversion of an HPI Super Nitro. I was looking from something larger than a normal 10th scale to tame a MM 7700. First things first, I had to make a mount that I could attach the motor to that would mesh with pinion. I started out with some very stiff plastic, but ended up using it as a template. With some aluminum angle I fashioned up a mount that allowed the motor to sit low in the rear and mesh with the pinion.
After ruining a lot of angle I got it right and in went the Mamba. Ran it on eight cells first and it moved but not to my liking so I went with a 6.6V 2S1P A123 lipo. Did a lot better but I ended up killing the A123 by over amping it. It was rated @ 66A but the Mamba can pull upwards of 100A.
After a little more research, I picked up a Medusa 36/60 3100Kv motor and a couple of zippy lipos, cut yet another motor mount and rear brace and finally after a few months of dedicated work, it finally runs and well.

yeah the front is a one way and I have never been into the whole nitro thing. It is messy and you can test or run everywhere. I ran it today and it is a sticky rubber drifter. The new Medusa is amazingly torque. When I give it throttle the back end drops. Still have a some work to go be it runs for now. Will need foams to get the speed out of it.
