If it's the same setup, spend time trial and error testing on the water with a gps will be the only true way to get an edge over your brother. By tuning, I'm talking different size props, hardware trimming, c/g adjustments and even small changes in the needle setting on the carb. Besides that, your only other option would be to get a more powerful engine (along with the previously mentioned tuning.

Certainly having the boat set up well from the get-go is never a bad way to start. Are you building the boat yourself or is this something your buying built. If already built - is it from Aeromarine or a previous owner. If you have some pics of the transom (back) and the motor/pipe setup we might be able to offer a fer other pointers that may help you in your quest for the edge

Model Gas boats .com has a great build article on the Conquest. I would follow that article except for mounting the strut inside the boat. I'd keep it on the transom.

Props are very important. A friend of mine has a conquest. It seems to like a 6717/3 blade 420 best.

I have heard that this boat is capable of mid to high 60's but we have only had his up to 55 mph. I think we should be able to break 60 with more tweaking though.

I think it's an excellent hull.

What engine are you putting in it?

My Conquest does upper 50's in tight oval trim, loose it does mid 60's effortlessly.

Prop choice is a MAJOR issue in getting some decent speed, as is a good mod engine and a good pipe.

A GREAT prop for the boat is the Propshop/VooDoo 7016/2
