I just wanted to probe your minds a little bit.
If money were no object...would a Kanai II with a WS7-2 be just about the best kit/engine combo possible?
What are your thoughts? School me.

I think the K2 with any of the RB engines is about THE best set up you could buy. I dont think the Mugens are far behind though.....A Storm Pro in the right hands is as capable of winning as anything though.

I prefer the regular inferno, I don't like LSD diffs, they puch bad, that is what mainly costs more in the K2 kit, I buy regular inferno's, racers edge front and rear Shock Towers and Chassis braces, and run it instead. Combo is about unbreakable. And I also am a huge fan of RB engines. I don't throw out the extra 70 bucks for the "w" because I only keep an engine one summers running and then sell it and buy a new one so it would be a waste, Around 3.5 to 4 gallons and I am rid of them.

I've got a Kanai 2 with an WS7-2 motor that I just broke in, and may I say, "holy crap that thing is fast". I put the 063 pipe on vs. the 086 and it's more controllable. The 086 pipe give's it ton's of low end, but makes it really squirelly because the tires spin so fast.
Definitely going to replace the LSD's and use regular Hyper 7 diff so I can play with the different diff. oils.
I also have PBS that handles great and has great power with the 8 port motor, but this is after I put an OS carb on it.
Personally any buggy that you put a grand into can will a race. It's all about the driver. And god knows I need practice.
Here's a pic of the Kanai.

That Kanai is sweet man, if you can find an Orange wing, that will rock. And you are right, once you spend the money for a top end buggy H7 pro, Inferno, Mugen, or some consider Storm Pro, its more setup and driver because most of them are pretty equal. I got rid of the strorm pro I had just because the way the Inferno handles the tight section of the tracks suits me much better, I can carry a little more speed with one.

what shock towers are on your Kyosho slodsm? Are they 4MM?
Mkinla, what do you mean by LSD's? I understand it means limited slip differential, but what type of desighn diffs does the K2 come with? Are the inside diffs filled with a worm type mechanism without silicone, but a type of grease? Or are they conical gear type gears?

For you K owners. Here is a pic of Greg Hackett's K car with a OS RZ-01. Other drivers were just as fast but he was the only clearing the triple like a master. All about skills kids! This pic was taken at Pasadena Off Road during the ROAR regionals (region 2) this sunday. By the way, he finished second for the region.

Todd, I use Racers Edge Pro series, I am not sure how thick the bracing is, the actual part that mounts to the shocks is 3 mm but they are thickly braced all around them. Its the saem stuff Gregg Degani used, its a bit more expensive than Fioroni but honestly, you only need the shock towers and chassis braces, the rest is just for looks so thats all I bought. Plus if you do manage to break it, they replace it. Richard Saxton has ties with Racers Edge as well and he touts the product like it is the greatest on the planet, I am a pretty big fan myself. They have a cheaper line that is a nice anodized blue but not quite as thick, I am pretty sure they will not ever bend either.

Hey Todd,
I finally got the car out at the track today for the first time since I finished it. OMG does it rip. The motor ran perfectly I just had to richen it up since it was over cast here in L.A.
The LSD does stand for limited slip but honestly I thought they worked pretty good so I think I'll retract the idea of changing them out just yet. Since I'm running an 063 pipe on an RB WS7-2 it acted like it had the feeling of turbo lag which is great because the buggy doesn't get sideways when you punch it, plus the temp was around 180 - 200 all day long.
One thing I have to say, I SPENT 4 HOURS DRIVING THE CAR AND NOT FIXING IT. The 3 times that I was at the track with the PBS I broke something, every fricken time. Grant you I like to jump over triples, but the Kanai was perfect. The only issue I had was the body. The front nose of the body broke off right where the body pins are.
One thing I learned today that was awesome. I've got a JR Racing radio and it allows you to adjust your EXPONENTIAL Stearing %. By reducing the percentage it made that car much more controlable. At 0 the car was pretty squirelly at -15% it was so much more controllable.
By the way here's the car with the orange wing and after a day at the track. Notice the missing body nose guard.

Mkinla, if you move your body mount back and shim it up it will place the body pin in an area on the body that wont crack as easy on those tumble landings. You will have to drill a hole in the upper front support plate and remount the body post but it is a lot easier and cheaper than replacing bodys, I broke 2 in a months time and that was enough. Then you could reuse the body you broke and just make a small mudd flap in the front.

kyokai2 great idea. I'll do the tonight.
Todd, thanks man. And oh boy practicing and racing vs. fixing there's only two things better, women and spending money on rc crap.
Oh I almost forgot and this should be for all buggies. There's a set screw on the lower a-arm that you can adjust the amount the a-arms drop. Big difference in handling when I was messing around with that. Little drop and car is bouncy, more drop and the car sucks up the bumps better
Later.

Man my buggy has yet to see dirt!
I've been so busy. I've had this thing for about 4-5 months now and still I only have about 10-15 tanks through it.
Runnin a Mugen works with A Rossi BM. R1RX/330RX Hitec 945/925 servos.
All that money and its just sitting there!
Just started summer school so lets see if I can find some time in the weekends!
