Default Battery help

I bought new Tenergy 5000 1.2 volt nimh cells. I made 1 - 8 cell pack and 1 - 9 cell pack. I soldered everything and used the deans bones to connect them. Everything seems to be connected good and i'm charging with the Prophit Plus 2 charger. The 4600 7 cell packs that I bought have twice the power and last twice as long. Did I buy bad batteries? Is the charger I got to small for these packs? Do I need to do anything special to the new batteries, they have went through a few cycles and still suck.

Did I ruin the batteries? What charger / decharger should I get?

I would appreciate any help you can give me. I know i'm new and a pain but trying to get these working.

Tenergy are lower end cells but should still last as long as the others. Did you do 2-5 forming cycles charging at 1/10C?

So i'm getting a new charger, any reccomendations?. I guess I want to be able to charge Lipo''s, 9 cell nimh packs and charge and discharge>

I didn't form the batteries. I will get a new charger and do that but is it too late? I guess i'll form them and hope for the best.

The best bang for the buck quality charger I have is the Thunder Power 610C. It will charge ANY type of battery including up to 6S lipos at a 10amp charge rate. Comes with a built in balancer for TP and Align taps. Needs a power supply though.

Thanks for the info I got the Thunder charger. I have one more question.......

I made a Tenergy 9 cell pack so I think that is 10.8 volts??? I cycled the pack 2 times discharging to 9 volts and it automatically charged it to 13.6 volts, does that sound right??

I now know I made a bad choice on the battery selection. I bought a Lipo pack, just trying to get the ones I made working so I can give them to my nephews.

Thanks for any help.

Thats about right it took it down to 1 volt per cell(.9v is the lowest you would want to go)
And the finish volts is always higher...If you let it sit for a while then check it again the volts will be lower. My 7 cell 8.4v pack is around 11.5 volts fresh off the charger.

You are doing everything right.

Thanks for the help, I think i'm finally getting it.

Ya the truck is mine, its a ( or was ) rustler. Nothing is left from the truck except the motor and esc, nothing. I think I got a little carried away its kinda heavy now, but I liked building it. Its Fast Lane, Integy and I built a fair amount of the aluminum parts as-well. I think lighter is probably better but is still does pretty good.

So while i'm on the question thing.....

What would be the sickest 1/10 scale off road I could build, lighter this time. The fastest, most durable, well balanced for big airs, whats the best?

i hope this is on topic enough, i went lookin around to find out what the s in 3s 4s 5s etc.. lipo meant. that is explained here [link=http://www.rcslot.com/blog/lipo-batteries-explained-a-how-to-guide-for-lithium-polymer-batteries.html]3s 4s explained[/link]

and some information on charging, care, and safety with lipo packs. quite a few informative videos on them exploding under certain circumstances.
