new clutch shoes
Hi guys i have a losi 8ight t and i think my clutch is just about done.
SO i need a new one and i see so many different ones on amainhobbies.com but what clutch for a truggy would be the best for low end aceleration.
Is it better to have 3 shoes or 4 and what type of material. Could someone please explain to me the affect of 3 or 4 shoes and the types of material.
or just direct me to another thread
thanks

RE: new clutch shoes
If you have the 3shoe clutch,, get the Mugen Alum shoes. They are like $25 or so, but they do not leave you wanting. Hook up straight away and they last longer than the plastic.
Probably the best clutch out there Werks adjustable clutch. Just down you old clutch, remove the necessary parts, and install this one:

This is not a cheap clutch and you might have to get an engine mount that can also be adjusted forwards and backwards, but this clutch is defo nice and the tapered contact surface and 4-shoes give a larger contact area to engage the clutch.
Too bad they do not make a centax style clytch for off road use (one that will not get diert into the Centax bell.)

RE: new clutch shoes
The Losi clutch should not need to be upgraded. It is extremely easy to work on and does its job perfectly. I use Dynamite Max life shoes with gold and green springs in my 8ight buggy, and it works perfectly. Get the 4 shoe maxlife sheos for sure. If you want alot of low end grunt, go harder on springs. But if you had the factory 2 shoe aluminum clutch just get the maxlife with green and gold srpings and it will be a HUGE performance increase.
