What exactly do I want?
Well, I am new to this hobby and I want either an RC truck, truggy or buggy.
I don't know what I want, but here are a few things...
1. I want it to be as hassle free as possible - true RTR, I don't want to have to buy a whole lot of parts just to start it.
2. Something strong. So when I bash with it it wont break with my weak, beginner skills.
3. I don't want to spend over $350. For only the truck.
4. Nitro would be preferred over electric.[>:]
5. Jumping looks like fun, so I want something that can survive lots of jumps.
6. I don't need the fastest, just whatever you think is best for a beginner.
I was looking at the HPI MT2, Ofna Hyper 7, Hot Bodies Lightning 10 (buggy or truggy) or the Tower terror.
Thanks!

RE: What exactly do I want?
You dont want this hobby if you are worried about 350.
Trust me about that, just quit before you cant afford to quit it becuase you have so much invested and you have a cheap broken truck sitting on the shelf.
You either go all out, or dont even bother.

RE: What exactly do I want?
They're absolutely right, this isn't a cheap hobby. Your gonna break parts, and your gonna want to replace them. Plus you have the cost of fuel, which can run anywhere from $30 - $50 a gallon, plus reciever battery pack and charger, starter kit, etc....the list can keep going for as long as you want it to. A hobby grade r/c is NOT a one time investment, it keeps taking money non stop. That is if your really enjoying the hobby. You might wanna think about an electric. Yes they can cost a bit more up front, but they can actually be a little cheaper over all. You can get a car, a charger, and a couple battery packs and maybe you wouldn't have to buy anything else for a while unless you break something.

See if you can find one of these. Your budget is reasonable....

RE: What exactly do I want?
I have that MGT 3.0 AutoXman posted about. It's a good truck.
It's not actually a bad thing to get a cheap car. I started with a cheap street car. I broke lots of stuff and learned A LOT from that cheap car.
Just get what you can afford and think looks cool. Have a good time.

Don't get a cheap car, whats the point in posting on a forum if you only want a certain type of answer? I bought a cheap car (well it was cheap for the time) as my first and everything went wrong and parts were difficult to get, your much better off spending that little bit extra to get something decent as -not so good car- will drive you mad.[:@]

All the vehicles that have been mentioned are all good vehicles. The HPI MT2, OFNA Hyper 7, and the MGT 3.0. Your not gonna go wrong with any of them, just pick the one that best suits you. I have the hyper 7 and love it.

RE: What exactly do I want?
The kind of answer I was looking for was what car I should get.
Out of these 3, what would be the most reliable?
HPI MT2, OFNA Hyper 7, and the MGT 3.0

RE: What exactly do I want?
Well the MT2 and the MGT are both 1/10 scale. Which meant the parts would be a little cheaper, and you'll get more run times out of a tank. However the Hyper is an 1/8 scale, which means it'll be more durable, more durable parts, but also a little more expensive plus it'll drink a little more gas. But you probbably won't break as many parts. No one here can just bluntly tell you which car to get, only you can do that. Like we all said earlier, an r/c isn't cheap no matter which one you get, so YOU have to get the one YOU will be most happy with. You're gonna be the one driving, fixing, and maintaining it. They each have they're advantages and disadvantages. Do any of your friends have r/cs? If they do, what do they have? Go to your local hobby shop ( lhs ) and see what manufactures' parts they keep in stock. We can only give you information to help you decide, we can't decide for you.....hope this helps a little..........

RE: What exactly do I want?
Check out youtube and see what you like. The MGT is more of a monster truck. The HPI is lower stadium truck *4WD still), and the Hyper 7 is a buggy.
Either one will be great and you can't go wrong with any of them.

RE: What exactly do I want?
None of my friends have an RC car. Usually, my friend gets whatever I have...
I'll check out my local hobby shop on the weekend. 1/8 is bigger and more durable, so I think I want a Hyper 7.

Yes, going to your lhs is always the best place to start. Find out if they carry ofna parts, and if they have a good selection. You want to buy a vehicle that will be easy to get parts for. Remember, your gonna break parts, no matter what, unless you just keep it on a shelf. So parts availability is essential.

RE: What exactly do I want?
From all the cars and trucks iI have run I think that a truggy is the best choice you will pay a bit more at the start but all the parts are stronger and you dont have a trannie to deal with only 3 difs .You can bash and run almost anything a monster truck can but a truggy is stronger , I jumped on ebay and found a losi 8t rtr new for $547.00 buy it now witch is close to your range if you will pay 350 a truck 200 more you get you get a big block and a Spektrum DX2.0 you dont have to do a thing to this truck it is setup great for a rtr and it wil last .

On towerhobbies they are selling the new duratrax rtx's for 200 bucks down from 400. That is a great bashing truck that is next to indestructible and it is insanely cheap right now.

RE: What exactly do I want?
true but for the 200 bucks the truck costs you could buy the truck, sell the stock engine and use the money from the stock engine as a discount on a better engine

RE: What exactly do I want?
Just get the Hyper 7 TQ black. It's durable, the hyper series motors are a very good line of motors. Just get better electronics....there you wanted an answer, you got one. Just get it, you won't be disappointed.
