Default Masking Tape Uses

Other than masking, I use it for:

-Holding down parts for gluing
-When making wing skins, taping balsa sheets together
-When sanding, put some over the places you don't want to sand: for example, when sanding the TE of the wing flush, put some over the ribs, so you don't end up eating them!

What else do you have?

Hmm. Well while building the Kadet LT-40 ARF I used it for holding down parts while gluing and holding control surfaces in the neutral poisition for setup.

It's a slipstream friendly method of adding weight, nose or tail.

Provides great entertainment when stuck to cat heads. Makes mine go very fast, very low, backwards.

It goes well with paper towl for band aids. It can also be used to patch covering for a short term. Save all of the tape from a paint job and you have a good thing for a catapult or big sling shot.

good surface for "drawing" parts onto ally sheet, and other very smooth surfaces (ABS comes to mind)

Keeping cf tow together (clear adhesive tape might not be visible ) and it is easier to remove.

Cutting kevlar (2 layers around kevlar string and snip)

Cutting small wire cable (same technique) like controllines and bicycle brake cables.

Taping wife's mouth when LHS reciepts are found. Actually, I think duct tape works better. I use it for holding Monokote temporarily.

Wrap it back on itself (sticky side out over your hand) and use it to clean up all the loose threads on your bench when fiberglassing that defy other efforts to sweep up. Regards.

I've found that I like to use the blue temporary masking tape that you use when painting. It dosent have quite the stick that regular tape has and releases alot easier.

It can provide a nice, temporary straight line for lining up your "N" numbers and such...

When joining ARF wing panels, run narrow tape along the edge of each end rib, all the way around. Apply your epoxy per instructions. Apply more tape across the joint to hold the panels together. Wipe down the joint seam with alcohol and a rag to get rid of the heavy bead of epoxy that probably oozed out of the joint. When the epoxy is cured, remove all the tape; no epoxy smears to clean up.
