Default cx2 + swingset = zero altitude...

well I finally had a big crash, outside today at the park a good gust of wind came and blew it into a swingset. My line of sight wasnt good and I didnt get it shut off quite fast enough. Anyways broke a lower blade, replaced the pair and now it wont lift off the ground, it just wants to spin and slide in circles but wont develop enough lift to get any altitude at all. Obviously a shaft is bent and I noticed the flybar looked a little out of whack so I am going to order a new inner shaft and a boomtown flybar. Does this sound about standard? I did the rudder to the left and right test with throttle half on, it appears to be the inner thats bent, if I look at the collar that holds the gear on the shaft underneath its wobbling all over the place but I disassembled it and rolled it on my flat glass table and there isnt much wobble that I can see. the heli def. doesnt sound good. I need to step up to a 450 sooner I guess. So I can fly outdoors!

Cornerblade,

The plastic gear of the inner shaft is easily bent in a crash. The shaft may be unaffected. A bent gear usually does not prevent takeoff, so something else is also wrong. Th plastic bearing holder supporting the top of the inner shaft is also easily bent. Replace it with a CNC bearing holder. There again, both of these parts being bent should not keep it on the ground. Keep looking...

ya, I ordered some parts, but I have kept investigating. When Id run it up it was so much louder than normal. I took out the inner shaft and associated parts and would spin it up with only the lower blade and it sounds like it should...I took the inner shaft head off, remounted the gear and collar and rolled it on a flat surface and it wasnt bad. I looked closer at the flybar and it was toast. If it was bent in an 'S' shape could that keep it from lifting off? I ordered a goldslinger flybar and some inner shafts, I will know more tommorow when they get here. I will also inspect the bearing holder, but it looks good.

you need to check your swash plate. if it came apart in the crash it could affect it.

I looked it over real close, but what do you mean came apart? all the swash plate mechanisms and linkages seem tight and good, I will know more when I get my parts. I was thinking at first the flybar wasnt that bad but looking at it closer it had developed an S shape and probably deviated over an 1/8 of an inch from its centerline, which makes sense it would have no lift becuase the upper blades would basically be kept at a severe angle of attack and not allowed to balance out. I took it outside and put the rudder full left and full right with half throttle and one way it sounded like crap and restricted almost and the other it would spin around on the ground like a top. So like I said we will see. Hitting the metal frame of the swingset and then landing upside down was probably pretty hard on everything.

Put a goldslinger flybar and new inner shaft in my cx2. Will lift off now, but it wants to rotate counter clockwise constantly. It will almost stop if I put the trim tab all the way to one side. No amount of adjustment on the 3-in1 helps it though. Any ideas? Thanks

Still cant get this thing to hold a heading, no matter where I put the rudder trim it wont maintain heading. I have messed with the gain and the pot still wont help. any ideas?

From the way you described your crash:
My line of sight wasnt good and I didnt get it shut off quite fast enough.
I am wondering if your motor itself was not damaged. The other possibility is that you stripped your inner shaft gear (lower gear) but not bad enough to lose complete contact. If you could post a few pics of your heli with the canopy off showing the swashplate from both sides and a couple of the bottom showing the gears themselves and the pinions someone may be able to spot where the problem lies.
I am guessing without seeing your heli that you have either stripped gears/pinion or you have damaged the motor. I have been flying my CX2 for over 2 1/2 years and have only added a few "upgrade" parts. Still using the ORIGINAL upper bearing holder and frame and all the ORIGINAL bearings.
Where in WA do you live? If you have to, take it to any one of your local LHS's and have them take a look at it. Most hobby shops carry them and sell replacement parts. This equates to someone in the hobby shop being able to diagnose your issue and help youresolve it. The 2 that i frequent the most they usually will pull parts off the shelf or out of thier demo models and use them to test on yours. Online diagnose's usually are pretty on the money but there is no substitute for "hands on".
