Default Can I chop those stacks???

I have TBM Silent Beauty Pitts for a DL50 and the stacks are so long its a hard to get cowl off and on. I've never seen stacks so long. Is it ok to cut an 1' or 1 1/4" off them? Thanks

I have cut off the bent ends of mine, after an abrupt meeting with the ground.
But you can cut enlongated slots for the stacks to make it easyer to get the cowl on and off.

The shorter the stack the more power you will have. It comes down to the look you want, some like them hanging down all polished up sweet. Some like em to just clear the cowl for most power. Some have run em into curbs and now have pieces of silicone hose exiting the cowl from learning the hard way how many $ running them into a curb costs

I usually cut mine about .75" past the cowl. Like they said, a hair more power. Also the shorter the down tube, the better chance it'll never crack the weld due to vibration.
