*Due For An Oil Change*
I've always ran LawnBoy Ashless oil at 32:1 in all my gassers and never had any issues but I think this season I'm going to switch to Pennzoil at 40:1 in my G26 since I've heard so much about it. I had a hard time finding it but the last stop paid off. I bought all three bottles that Advanced Auto Parts had. I saw the Multi- Purpose oil, 4-stroke oil, and out-board oil and I'm hoping I got the right stuff. All you Pennzoil users, what ratio are you running in your gassers ???

Thanks man. I thought I had the right oil. The bottles I bought are only 3.2 oz. Can you buy it by the quart? I would have continued using the LawnBoy Ashless oil but Sears stopped handling it. I can't find it anywhere else.

The Outdoor in the 8oz bottle is not the same. I looked into this by doing a side by side comparison on Pennzoil website. The specs for the two oils are remarkably different. The Outdoor version has poorer numbers for things such as flash point, etc. It is also much lower in price.

I looked at the data sheet but I must have missed the mentioned difference. The data sheet does differentiate between the air-cooled and the outboard oils. The two oil container pictures on the thread show different sizes but I believe they must be the same. The 8oz. is rated for category TC which should take care of our needs.

Joe knows the good stuff and what to use-I use the same as him. I've bought it in the 3.2 and 8oz. bottles. I only buy it in the 8oz. now so I mix that whole bottle to two gal. for a 32:1 ratio. My DL50 uses that along with my Zenoahs and others-all have run beautiful from day one, no problems as long as it says for "Air Cooled".

Yeah maybe he didn't see the air cooled on my bottle. I went to their website and they have an outdoor that is separate from the outdoor air cooled. Mine says air cooled. If it only says Outdoor that is not the good stuff.
In their air cooled spec sheet is says:
• Dyed blue for case of identification
Mine is blue.
Also see this web page. It shows my exact bottle type in the air cooled line. I think the word "Outdoor" being in both products is confusing.
http://www.pennzoil.com/products/out...aircooled.html
If you look at this page that has their entire product line...look way down where it says PENNZOIL OUTDOORS. Under that the Multi purpose is listed and then the air cooled.
http://www.pennzoil.com/products.html
I did my homework.
PS: Zippi I think yours is just old stock and is an older label of air cooled.

JoeAirPort,
You could be correct. I really don't know as this is the first time I've ever bought it. At least it does say "Air Cooled* so I guess I'm good to go. With these little 3.2 oz bottles I can use one bottle per gallon of gas for a ratio of 40:1. A couple years ago I had a Brillelle 26cc and the 40cc gassers and they both spit black spots all over the plane. Not sure if it was characteristic of the engine or the LawnBoy Ashless oil.

Joe is correct-you have some of the older stock. A while back they switched labels and lots of folks got confused but it is the same stuff. I love Pennzoil and it is easy to get where I live-some people have a hard time finding it for some reason though. I mentioned this on another thread that my nephew switched from Pennz. 50:1 back to 32:1 and picked up 2-300rpm without touching a thing!

RE: *Due For An Oil Change*
Please guys this isn't meant to start an argument , but why do you still use mineral based oils in the States ,instead of the modern fully synthetic racing 2 stroke oil ? Is there a reason , price difference ?
I can't think of anyone in the UK who doesn't use Bel-Ray or Silkolene or Valvoline etc in their gas engines. These are all synthetic 2 stroke oils used at 50 :1 or higher.
As I said this isn't a critiscism , but genuine curiosity.
Cheers
Colin
