Default Servo switch

Hi, I've had my redcat tornado BB for about a week now, and its my first real rc car. When i bought it, it was raining hard, so they sold me some balloons to put around my receiver. When i had the balloon on, the servos would switch all the time. The steering servo would push all the way to the right, and the the steering wheel on the control would control the thorttle of the car. What causes this? and how can it be avoided? It hasn't happened yet with the balloon off though.

My car and control run at 27.145MHz, Seeing as how nearly half of the crappy rc cars come in this frequency, or 49MHz, would it be worth it to get off of it?

Thanks for the help!

The RC cars that come on either 27 or 49 mhz are on a different frequency than any hobby 27mhz car so no worries there...

As for the twitching, are you stuffing the antenna inside the balloon with the receiver? Because it should hang out and go through the antenna tube like normal.... it that's not the case, try replacing the crystals.... I had a duratrax receiver that a traxxas controller one channel away would do that too (servos would twitch, and steering seemed to affect the throttle) Could just be a bad crystal or crappy radio (redcat=crappy)

No the antenna was all the way out, and in its tube up into the air.

Actually my sons 50$ crappy rc car runs the exact same frequency, down to the 1000th.

From what ive read, AM is about as low as you can go in rc remotes, but i will definitely replace the crystals.

Yesterday i managed to get the car out of range, and it took off at full throttle, luckily it landed on its tail and rolled onto its top after hitting a bump and sailing 5 feet into the air. If it landed on its wheels it would just take off again. Im off to go buy two replacement dog bones, and a failsafe after that one =)

The steering wheel on the transmitter controlling the throttle was caused by you plugging the servos into the wrong receiver slots. Throttle goes to slot 2, steering goes to slot 1.

Actually I never unplugged them. It would be working fine, both servos would twich for a second, then they would be reversed. Turning power off to both remote and and car, and then powering back on, wouldn't correct it either, it would have to sit a while before it would act normally again.
