Default 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta

Hey all... Well a few of you here may remember me a few years ago on the Beretta build... As you may know i started from scratch once again with a all new chassis design. This chassis is Mig welded. NOTE!! These shots of the chassis is just spot welded at the moment and looks pretty rough... I will finish and grind all the welds once all the needed brackets have been attached..

O.K. A little about what the Beretta will look like when completed. It will have a all metal body with a one piece front end and operational doors. Removable deck lid. Ground effects, Tinted windows, Operational lights, Operational chutes, Complete two tone charcoal interior, 1/3 scale blown v 8 engine, '18 hp' Two speed with reverse transmission/reduction unit, Fully functional 4-link sheet metal rear end/with operational wishbone & Torsion bar. Front & Rear hydro disc brakes,

Here is a link to my build Video's, I will update as i progress..

Thanks!! I'm not selling my rear end nor producing them. However i will be selling prints on the rear end and chassis in the future. I just don't have the time to fabricate these rear ends to sell bud. I have almost 2 months of time in the Beretta one as it is now. If i were to guess i would say it will be at least another 2 months before the Beretta rear end is done..

Sorry guy!! But if you need build pictures of it let me know. I take pictures of all the steps, Both rear end & chassis..

You need to PM me your email address, i will try to make a zip file for you of all the pics. As it is now i have nearly 3500 pictures of all the welding & jig setup steps, If you prefer you can give me you mailing address and I'll put them on a CD and mail it to you... The gears I'm going to use are from various brands of 7/9 inch angle grinders.

Yes my chassis is 1/4 scale. I kinda designed it around a 25.2 ProMod chassis... Give or take quite a few mods...

Here is a few sample pictures of the print. Minus dimensions.. lol..lol.. The prints will be available on the rear end and chassis within a few months.. I will also have the new site up soon..

Update on Rear end!

I now have the back brace welded in and most of the top welds done. I will then finish the bottom then weld and clean up all the welds around the 4-link brackets. I will then start on the front plate, Then the Third member. I will then build & weld in all the mounting tabs for the upper wheelie bars and wishbone & torsion bars. Once completed i will then hand file all the seams for a proper angle on all the case lines. etc. etc.

Thanks.. I'm just using a cheap 90 amp flux core Mig welder i got from harbour freight. But I'm using hobart .035 flux cored/carbon steel wire instead of the cheap stuff... The rear end is simple to weld. It's made of 1/8'' steel, But the chassis is a task. It's thin wall stainless steel tubing....

O.K. guys I'm going to post a few pics at various stages of the build. This is just a simple home built car, Nothing to wild here guys...lol.. Note !!! Simple table jigs as well... It's nothing more than cuting & notching the tubes and placing the blocks on the table where needed... Although before i welded any of the tubes i measured from many points to check the measurements prior to welding... I also cleaned all the joints with acetone prior to welding... Once i get my new site up I'm going to post all the pics and steps takin on the build. Like i mentioned before iv'e taken around 3,700 pictures of all the steps and i don't think they want me posting all them here... I will post a link to my site once it's up and running...............I'll be posting some shots of the rear end build as well a little later...

Yeap. This looks like one dedicated model builder at work. Very involved and I love it. Are they go kart tyres? Have you got a pic or link to the motor you'll be using? What do you do for a living? Looks like you build the real thing!!!
Keep up the graet work and keep us informed. I'm loving it.

Thanks guys... I'm glad you all like the build.... Yes the tires are kart tires. 10''X 6''X 5'' I most likely will be using a little smaller tires though... I'm looking around for some with a nice tread pattern that would look sharp... I'm not going to race it soo the tires wont take a beating like most 1/4 scale cars do...

I bought 2 complete 1/3 scale Blown V8 engine casting kits from ken hurst, Still waiting on them... http://www.nvbackflow.com/engines/
I'm going to do all the neede machine work and machine a high lobe cam for both of them... I spoke with ken about it and he said it will lope at idle a little more than the stock set-up does... Gotta love that lope sound of the Blower.

i own a auto body/graphics business...

Thanks again!!

O.K. guys.... Here is an insight on how i built the rear end... It's made from 3 sizes of 1/8'' steel. 1 1/2''& 1 1/4'' & 3 1/2'' cut to size. I cut all the pieces with my dremel 400 XPR tool, With an Reinforced cut off wheel #426, I built the welding jigs as needed.. As you will notice in many of these shots... This flux core welding is messy. But it grinds of fairly easy and is plenty strong. I will be posting more pics and info on all steps taking in time. A fellow member here suggest that i should also post pics of all the needed tools i used as well so i will... Good idea!!

Try not to laugh at the crapy welds to much guys... lol
