Default New to electric. What guage do I need?

I am new to electrics and I will be purchasing my batteries soon. My question is what gauge of wire will I need for charging and normal use. I will be running 2x 3S 1600mah lipos in parallel in the new 1/16 e-revo brushless. I am not great at soldering but I do know a few professionals who will do it for nothing, does the traxxas plugs need to be soldered or are they just crimped? (electrician by trade)

Thanks.

12ga seems to be becoming standard, although 14ga would likely be sufficient for most applications, especially for shorter wire runs.
