Default OIL?

What oil are you guys running? I've used Klotz (kl200) pure synthetic,Amzoil, synthetic, ect. I tore my engine down after running the Klotz (100% pure synthetic) and the piston/combustion chamber was spotless! The problem I have is the oil isn't available locally, but Klotz (kl 100) is. It's part (80% synthetic) and (20% benoil/caster).would the syn/caster blend run alright in my zenoah motors? Any advice is appreciated. Ron

I use Amzoil.

I think that the Klotz 100 is for nitro fuel but I could be wrong.

I've been using Honda HP-2 which is as close as your local Honda dealership. Mine's maybe a mile way. I've also got some Amsoil Sabre that I haven't tried yet. Some also swear by an oil from Mercury.

RKS,
after checking on another site that a fair number of us also belongs too,
it seems that a fair number have tried the klotz 100 (Benol/Castor) and it looks like the consensus is that although it does work, the benol/Castor seems to leave a fair amount of carbon and it gum's up the carbs after sitting.

if you don't like carbon or carb gumming up klotz 200 or any good synthetic oil will do.

Another A747 user here. I use it in the Zenoahs.

For the Hi Rev QD I have used Redline...............seems alright, but I finally found a supplier of HP-2 so I am going to give that a crack

Currently running Klotz, I have run Amzoil, and the Quick sliver mercury oil has worked good in the past. Like the smell of Klotz. Everyone will have there farvorites, but if you run a good quality 2stroke oil you should be fine. What was it that you said you were able to get local. You might just ask about what you are using.

Take care;

Randy

I think the caster oil is for nitro. I was told that in the nitro form one time before when i asked adout some oil to put in nitro fuel.

Thanks, guy's! We can get the KL100 20% castor locally, but if it gums up the carb,we might just go with the Quick Silver. Was the Mercury Quick Silver conventional oil,or the synthetic blend? Might check and see if we can get the Castrol747 too,at NAPA. Ron

Isn't that actually Maxima castor 747? Not Castrol as the brand name.

Daniel

Edit: I was wrong the Maxima is castor 927. It is a blend and offers great protection without a lot of carbon buildup. I used the Honda HP2 and it made lots of carbon.
Redline high RPM Kart oil is good stuff also. Didn't think that much of any of the Amsoil products but the Saber is better for us than the Dominator. Plenty
people using it successfully though.

Catrol does make A747 (at least here in Australia). Maxima Castor 747 is a different animal. Some guys I know of have also used Maxima with good results from all accounts

Amsoil Sabre. Been using the Amsoil for 10 years, never had a oil related problem. No failures and no gumming up. Great product!

Ive been running klotz kl 100 for quite some time now with no guming or any problems 8 oz to the gal runs great provides plenty of protection and smells good I think that a good oil and at least 8 oz to the gallon is more forgiving if you happen to lean it out a little just my thoughts

The Quicksilver I'm using at the moment is just the regular Quicksilver Premium outboard oil, TC-W3 certified it says on the bottle. I actually thought I had the synthetic, but it runs great so far. Nice blue-green color, low smoke, if any.

For many years I have been using Amsoil Dominator at 40:1 in all of my gassers. Amsoil produces a lot of black mess out of the exhaust and carbon in the combustion chamber. About 6 months ago I started using Quicksilver at 40:1. The black mess is virtually gone and the engines run fine on it.

Academy Sports and Outdoors carries it.
