AFAIK... you could always just put some putty in the .28 p3 crank.... that would basically give you a red dot. The sleeves are different between the two but the description says the ports are bigger for smoother power delivery which doesn't mean more power. Unless they've changed timing on the sleeve then the only real difference would be the putty in the crank. If your doing the putty in the p3 crank you might as well bevel andsmooth out the intake port. Assuming the sleeves have the same timing that will give you more power then a regular red dot.

IMHO the stock picco.28 p3 is too much for tmaxx tranny unless you do the pin mod. Be prepared to strip diffs and snap wheel pins also.

true my other option i was thinking about was getting a regular P3 and having it AB modded.

There was a guy that put an AB modded P3 in his Revo and he was snapping pins and stripping RRP gears. Honestly I'd stick with the stock picco. Maybe some putty and a turbo button but 2.4 hp is WAY too much for the maxxes tranny IMHO.

I've had good succes with the rrp gears and they've taken a hell of a beating from my p3. You might be ok though since the maxx tranny is different then the revo(depending on what maxx trannyyou have).

well when i get that engine i will be running an OTB input gear and 1st and 2nd gears which are the most durable gears you will find for the Maxx. I think i should be safe with them but they're $165 for a set...

also what do you mean by putting putty in the crank? and i have already done the pin mod in my trans.

The putty is to smooth out the air flow coming in from the carb... basically in a crank without putty theres a sharp angle that the air hits at the bottom of the crank. Modders have solved this by putting putty over that angle and sort of "smoothing" out that anlge by forming the putty into a smooth "elbow". I'll see if Ican find a pic.
