truck or buggy?
hey. what would be better. Getting a buggy or going ahead and etting the rc10gt +? I was just about to get the rctogt but then the buggies caught my eye. If i go to a buggy i really only want to spend around $350. I would be looking for a good bashing buggy. Should i go ahead and buy the rc10gt or change and get a buggy. Which buggies would you recommend. Thx.

IF you do go for a buggy, for $350 or less an ultra LX Pro, Ultra MBX R2 80% kit, or Ultra MBX Pro which can be found for the same price of an LX Pro if you look in the right places. With the MBX R2 ($180) you can find a cheap .21 such as a Force .21 P4 ($99) and a radio ($40-50) so that totals close to $350. The LX Pro and MBX Pro comes with a Blazer Sport radio and a Force .25 engine (lots of power!).
All makes excellent bashing buggies. RC10GT is also a good choice, so is the Losi XXX-NT, seems like you've come across a really difficult decision.

I bought the R2 80% kit and it seems pretty good. I put a Hyper 8 port and a Futaba 3PDF radio in it and I love it. I use it just for bashing but I wanted to get a good radio and get used to it so I can go racing later.

H1, most of us can't really decide for you but it depends on your taste and which side you are leaning more towards. The ST's are great for speed on 2WD with under 4lbs of load powered by 12s or 15s of up to 1.5 horses- while the buggies are massive missles on 4WD with 8lbs of load and powerful (and loud oftentimes) 21s or larger which are capable of surpassing 3+ horsepower. The buggy is capable of any kind of terrain, the ST is best suited on hardpack and clay, it wouldn't be that great on grass or pavement. I don't own an ST, but I should say maintaining the 1/8 buggy gets expensive.

i would but the rc10gt. i think the trucks are better for beginners. however, i think that if you dont have a clue about rc cars then gas isnt the way to go. i had a friend jump into rc with a gas car and buy so many hop ups then it ended up goin toy fast for him. 150 bucks to repair it.

my buggy takes a beating. if you see a buggy up close you'll see how well built and sturdy they are.
look at a st, and you will see twig like arms and light weight parts.
i like st's, but for a race situation. for bashing a mt or buggy is the way to go. then ofcourse a buggy is the king of racing.

3 things to look at I think.
Durability: In theory a truck is simpler. In reality I think a decent 1/8th scale buggy is tougher. Ive jumped my hyper 7 off small cliffs without damage. My friends rc10 breaks if he hits the 2 foot skateboard ramp wrong...
Bashing: Buggies are way better for 1 big reason. The 4 wheel drive. Can drive it around the yard which a 2 wheel drive 1/10 scale will have trouble doing. And you wont be spinning near as many circles in the dirt.
Racing: This one is more opinion than anything else... I enjoy racing anything with wheels!

i think out of all the bugies and all the trucks that a xxx-nt would be the way to go. it comes with a jr racing radio so if you want to race later on there is no need for a better radio. the 2wd isnt a problem if you can properly use it. you can still do slides, just you have to hit the throttle at the right time.
oh, and my friends rc10 has driven off of a garage roof with no damage at all.

Theres has done once, and has done a thousand times. I have a series of banks and ramps and the RC10 will do any of them. The problem comes with bad landings. Ive flipped my buggy end for end prolly 100 times at 40mph or better with the worst damage being a slightly bent shock tower. Meanwhile in the RC 10 he's had to replace 3 different suspension parts that have broken on bad landings.
I agree that if your gonna get a truck the NTXT is prolly the way to go. It's one of the few RTR's you wouldnt have to spend much of anything on hop ups to have a good reliable machine.
It's all just opinion. Either way you'll be happy I bet.

also, IF and when the xxx-nt breaks just buy a new heavy duty part to replace it. however you would have to have one heck of a bad landing to break it.
