Default What are you going to do with your Mato Sherman

Just for discussion I thought I would ask what people are planning to build out of the Mato Sherman when it is released later this month??

I am thinking of a Kangaroo with a belly full of troopers, or maybe another Firefly. All I know is there sure are a pile of options with that VVSS suspension.

Either take off the suspension, or mount the Tamiya hull and my resin M36 turret on it. Who knows, depends on what it really looks like when it FINALLY comes out.

Same here, depends on the what it turns out to be.
The goal is to build a TBU Sherman M4A3E2 Jumbo Assault Tank using Nick's T-23 turret and 76mm barrel.
If all that dosen't seem practical, I'll build a captured Tamiya KV-1, but I will be holding out for the VVS Sherman first.

YHR:

I'd like to give a 'Roo a shot as well, but to do it right for 1CACR you'd have to 'Ram'ify the body... I know someone was making a prototype for master-prod in 1/35, but dunno if it ever went into prod.

Another thing that belongs on VVSS is the M32 TRV, and also the M5 arty tractor (seen in the background in Kelly's Heroes)

And yes, of course, the M10 & M36 TD's...

I will buy 3, take off the suspension, and redo my Tamiyas. (that is if the suspension works well.) In other words, I will have some spare Mato hulls and electronics in the future.

No 1 - Replace my son's existing Tamiya Sherman suspension

No 2 - Make an Irish Guard Firefly - the one that killed a King Tiger in Normandy

No 3 - Jumbo with a 76 (or just wait till pcomm1 gets tired of his and puts it on the market to support his addiction)

Seems like those Tigers and Panzer IV might finally start to be outnumbered on the battlefield

No 4 - Addict Sherman Update:
No 5 - Ah-So: very funny Kevin and true. Life was easier when it was just an In & Out Burger addiction.
No 6 - Image below, yesterday I bought this abused Sherman missing part kit off the bay.
No 7 - Turns out the seller lives just down the street from me in the same city, so no shipping charge and a small discount for cash too.
No 8 - And I had already collected the kit's missing parts in anticipation of the VVS Sherman.
Got the Pershing DMD units for that Easy 8 rumble, Nick's resin parts, resin engine vents, DT's parts and the Impact stuff with the early metal tracks.
No 9 - Kit bashing the Mato VVS to the Tamiya Sherman hull is the goal.

Interesting. There should be a flood of build threads(I hope) once these Shermans hit the shores.

Maybe I'll do a Griizzly like this. I have an extra Tamiya turret, so I would just have to mod the manlet and gun.

On a side note I found it interesting that when Canada developed their new flag they went with the commonwealth WWII markings and stuck a red maple leaf in the middle.

Goal, to have some fun with the Mato Sherman VVS parts.

Here is where I found most of the initial parts I will need for the kit bashed Mato – Tamiya Sherman Jumbo Assault or a Plain Jane Easy 8 (haven't decided which yet); but clearly a weapon system designed to make good Christians out of all German Panzer RC tank commanders :

1. Periscope guards and side hull trans covers: http://www.etoarmour.com/product_det...oductID=16TO17
2. Daryl Turner gear box mount brace, idler kit and metal elevation arm:
http://www.etoarmour.com/product_det...oductID=16TO17
3. Nick’s T-23 resin turret, email for prices: [email protected]
4, Nick's 75 or 76mm metal barrel & mantlet: [email protected]
5. Nick's split hatch: [email protected]
6. Nick's transmission cover: [email protected]
7. Resin top engine vent deck and PE screen: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Armour-Workshop
8. Exhaust deflector: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Armour-Workshop
9. Impact T66 tracks, return rollers, drive sprockets, idlers, Battle Unit: http://www.mitosal.com/m4sherman.html
10. Tamiya Pershing DMD Units for the correct Easy 8 noise: Shared Plug and Play wired modular system with my Tamiya Pershing
11. Long wire LED lead for the 76mm barrel mounted emitter, email Daryl Turner for quote or make it yourself:
[email protected]
12. Plus I will need the TBD Mato VVS Sherman and just got a so sad Tamiya Sherman Missing Parts Kit found on "bay".
13. Estimated build budget: $675.00 using the radio and batteries I have.

Any news from Mato, I am just about ready to build?

Make an M-10. Then wait and see how long it will be before they come out with the M-3 Lee. May have to get a second one and put the suspension on a Tamiya chassis with my M3 turret and upper hull. Turret is already made. Just need the suspension and tracks!!

Hey Folks, Speaking of the Mato Sherman, I was just perusing Tank Zone UK and found them advertising as "coming soon" a 1/16 Heng Long M4 Sherman that looks susprisingly similar to the ol prototype version of the Mato Toys Sherman. very interesting

I`m sure you`re right YHR, but I am surprised Tank Zone did`nt show pictures of the finished Sherman, not the old prototype.
And I like your idea of doing a Kangaroo. If I buy 2 of these Mato Shermans, I definately will consider it.

I sent Tank Zone an email to see if they could shed some light. A gentleman from Tank Zone I`ve dealt with quite a few times responded...
This M4 Sherman they`re advertising, the one that looks exactly like the Mato Toys prototype M4 Sherman, is a Heng Long. The Gentleman went on to say that Heng Long planned on doing a Sherman 2 years ago
but did the Pzr III instead ( and then got sidetracked with the PzrIV, PzrIIIH, StugIII, Jagdpanther and KV1) lol and will be bringing out this Tank as well as the corrected Panther later on this year. Why this Tank looks identical to the Mato M4 prototype, he did`nt comment on.

I certainly dont want to confuse the issue further lol but I was just at the Matorro Web sight,
and I found what I`ve been referring to as the prototype Mato Toys M4 Sherman. You know, the one Tank Zone is advertising as a Heng Long Tank ? Well here, it`s being advertised as a,
yep, you guessed it, a Matorro Tank, got it parked right beside the good ol Sturmtiger. lol
AND !! They`ve even got what I`ve been referring to as the finished product Mato Toys M4 Sherman !! But surprisingly, its not being advertised as a Matorro, or a Mato Toys, or even a Heng Long. lol It`s a TORO Tank !!! I think I`ve entered the Twilight Zone lol

well whom ever is going to make it, I want one lol. One of the reasons I have for not buying the tamiya sherman is the hvss i just don't care for it, but now with this coming out, i need to save my money and port the suspension over to the tamiya (once I buy it of course).

The only Sherman I know about for sure is the Mato toys Sherman. All this other talk is just confusion around marketing. Mato, Torro, one markets in North America the other in Europe. Bottom line it is the same tank. This has different electronics then Heng Long, and only comes as an airsoft version. Different sounds as well. I do not know how well these new electronics will interface with a DBC so I will most likely gut the thing and install an RX18 and Darkith battle system. Swath told us all these things months ago.

I think it might be a good idea to start keeping an eye on the Mato webpage. My spidy senses are tingling

YHR, "My spidy senses are tingling", watch it, or someone will tell your mom. All I need is that Mato tank, because I'm ready to have Phil install his El Mod stuff in my WIP Matomiya Sherman.

Its not a huge conversion, but an early Israeli sherman would be easy.
