Default Tamiya, whats good

I have been in a constant struggle about which company I want to throw my money at (Thunder tiger, Hot bodies, now Tamiya) for my first go around at real RC stuff. I have research Tamiya and they have alot of stuff for the tt-01 and there other chassis. I was wonder from my tamiya brethren what is good to start out with. I was also wondering do they just discontinue the bodies because one web site said that what they have is discontinued from factory but they are still selling it and it has the tt-01 chassis? I was also wondering are the Xb one the race versions or it just mean it is well put together. Thanks D

how much are you willing to spend?

The Tamiya America website still have the TB Evolution IV for $230.00 which i think is a good deal, Then you just gotta go out and buy your own electronics, body, motor. I've ordered from them and i had great service.

230 is close to my max of what I can spend so I was looking at the XB models, What is a good website for finding hop ups. The E tamiya places shipping is crazy for anything over a certain size.

I'd suggest the TB-02 over the TT-01 right now. Comes upgraded with many of the upgrades you're going to put in the TT-01 anyway.

For hop ups, i use ebay or rcmart.com, which ever is cheaper for the part(s) I'm looking for. Most of my parts come from japan and Hong kong which i find has be best prices.

I hear really good things about the TB03 which can be had for under $160 on ebay. You'll probably go over $230 though once you get the radio, battery, charger.
I would recommend trying to spend a little bit more to get this car

TB-02 > TT-01E

Not sure if there's ever a RTR version of TB-02... I think only the TT-01s are made as RTR..

build it yourself, you'll thank yourself after you're done. there is so much more satisfaction in building a kit vs buying rtr, plus you know how to take it apart when you need to fix/replace something.

The TB-02 is way better than any TT-01, it's just a newer design.

I'd have to think the TRF415 or 416? both my TB-02 and my TA-05 handle my brushless on 3S fine, just have to gear properly. I almost never run 3S though, it's actually less fun IMO. I like my top speed around 40-45mph.

nope, basically anything that has TRF in it from Tamiya is their best. Usually carbon fiber and aluminum.

bit of a daft question, till someone tests every Tamiya chassis in the same conditions, with the same power systems, we wont know.

to the original poster, i would highly recommend getting a kit.. [8D]

I also agree on getting a kit, you can learn a lot from it.

RTRs are boring...
