If you want lane widths:
1/10 is about 5'+
1/8 is about 10'+
Once you get 1 -2 cars on a lane you go "wow that is small." I run a 1/8 truggy on a 5' lane, but it is hard, have to watch your top speed and turns are sort of harry at times. Depending on your space, you can vary your lane widths, I would recommend making the straight about 3'-5' wider than the rest of the lanes to give the drivers more room to let those engines scream
