Are you experienced with R/C vehicles in general? Or new to the hobby all together? Either way I'd recommend Axial Racing's offerings, All their crawlers, RTR, ARTR, and kit are a great start to crawling. The kit and ARTR have some hop ups and pretty useful modifications that the RTR doesn't, but if you get the RTR you can easily buy those parts and install them separately. That said if you don't mind buying radio equipment and other electronics separately and doing some assembly, the kit or the ARTR are the way to go. You should be able to fit an Axial crawler in that budget, but also look at stuff by Losi, Venom, Tamiya, Duratrax, etc.

Yeah the AX10 is one of the best in its price range. A really good website to go to for Crawler info and strictly crawler info is http://www.rccrawler.com/. A great place that is dedicated to nothing but crawlers!

Depends on what mini you get... anywhere from 1/18 to 1/16 though
