Default Laser welded jet pipes - see sample @ Jetpower

A new 'laser' welded jet pipe is available now as a replacement or as a bespoke product from UKR-jet, now whilst they are unable to get to Jetpower this year they have sent me a sample for any interested parties to see at the show.
These pipes have undergone full heat tests and pass with flying colours.
The pipes are unique in that the seams are laser welded their entire length so removing the problems associated with spot welds and their effectiveness. The units are beautifully made from high quality ss as you can see from the photos attached, and packaged to make sure they arrive safe and undamaged.
If you want to see the sample I will be sporting a GBRJET logo'd shirt or top

Good question.
How do they control hydrogen embrittlement of the weld.

To be honest, not sure, the laser welding process is very accurate as you can see in the photos so the heat build up during welding will be minimal.
Testing has not shown any issues as a result of this process.

Very interesting - just a shame that a recent (31st August at 19:50hrs UK local) enquiry via the GBR Jet website has gone unanswered. Perhaps they are busy?

Sperx,
Sorry not to have replied, its a lame excuse but the site is only just up and areas are still being worked on.
Please send me a PM via the forum and I'm happy to chat things over.

Can we have the specifics on this testing please . temp vs time and force needed to detach.

I will arrange to get information posted in relation to the testing - I'm intrigued though about force to detach, is this something you get with the jets you buy in the instructions? I've yet to see one myself? Can you give me figures from pipes you have used?

marcs
Interesting, could you give me these figures from pipes you have installed in your jets? I have to say its not something I have found detailed in instructions, but if it was available it would be good to know what to set as a benchmark.

One proper spotweld holds 15-20 lbs before it rips, anything less is inferior.

Probably welded in an inert gas camber. I've made one out of an old blasting cabinet. Works great for welding odd shaped pieces that cannot be easily purged.

Hi Friends!

Welded by the laser, it is very difficult to destroy a pipe to (break off).
Such pipes very strong!
And still: we apply very rare metal, such metal is very difficult for finding... Now such metal is not present anywhere... We have bought this material from old stocks USSR!!!
The metal specification:
After manufacturing of such metal (factory the manufacturer), presses it, and metal gets the big rigidity.
Metal is similar to an elastic steel (as a spring)!
To this metal 22 years...

Friends, ask any questions, we will give you answers![8D]
