Default Rc heli guy needs help with 1st truck pick

usually into heli's but I need help with a decent nitro car/truck pick. Years ago rc10 was a big name. Is it still good for backyard fun or is there anything else I should check out. Right now I priced a rtr nitro rc10 gt2 for 289.99 with radio. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Would like something that I can get into for a few hundred but has the opportunity for upgrades. Neighbor has older rc10gt and I have to get out there.

Thanks for the help
Jeff

The RC10GT is a fun truck and I have two of the old black tub GT's. (I also have a couple RC10's )
I know a couple guys with the GT2 and they love them.
You could always put an .18 in it later for more speed and power.

But if it's going to be your ONLY land RC you might want to check out 4X4 Monster Trucks, they don't get boring as quick.
I love my Savage XL, but it's a little pricy.
You could look into the smaller Savages they are very tough as well and a bit lower in price.
I would stay away from the T-maxx they tend to break alot. (I have one of those also)

slayer dude is right . i have a rc 10 gt they are great fun but monster trucks are funner .but if you have a nieghbor who has a gt it is also fun to run
with some one who has the same truck. i have a savage they are really tuff kinda pricey but they are built well and wiil last they have lots of power
and they have pretty good power plants [stay away from the xl its engine is the exception ] go for a x or a ss [kit] revo is a good truck despite what
some poeple say . if you want to keep it cheap they make a 1/16th version of revo [electric] thats not to much money and will flat scream with two
battery packs [almost 50 mph] but it has low clearance if you are running in the grass that not good choice .there is the jato from traxxas very fast
and durable [nitro] and a good choice too team associated makes good stuff to though all depends on what you want to do with the truck

Oh yeah ! Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming. Just like heli's, this can get crazy as I am already peeking around the 1/8 scale section. Trying to keep this secondary to heli's and already thinking that the advice here so far gets me looking at trucks and the rc10 will be put to the side (for now)

What hobby sites do you like to deal with for customer service. Are there any sites offering free shipping & 1 day sales specials that are really worthwhile?

Thanks
Jeff

Since were posting vids now.
Here's my Savage XL K5.9 doing a 30 foot high, 60 foot distance...and a couple other jumps mixed in.

That BMX track ate my GT for breakfast and spit it out for lunch.
Go for the MT!!!

man you cant go wrong with a savage X 4.9 . despite what a lot of poeple say revo is a very good truck too . dont know anything bout the team
associated monster have other assoc products really like them .i have a savage you can beat that thing til the cows come home and it will still
run . i have really good things bout truggys too, really tuff really powerfull . what you might do is go to a track talk to a few poeple see
if they have any suggestions ,that way you could see how a lot of these trucks respond before you buy one . i would go to the lhs and see what
they have on hand and have parts for because they ALL will break soner or later and you want to get parts for your truck so you can fix it
or upgrade it when you get better with it or want to upgrade

Savage has been running for two days now and it is mean.....Does take one hell of a beating.

Need another car/truggy/truck

want 1/10 scale 2-wheel drive now and thinking maybe electric for my son. Still want decent car that will allow for upgrades later but every bit of fast and durable now. What do you like for this category.......was very happy with HPI product so far.

Thanks
Jeff

not only am I a heli junkie, but I think we could develop a R/C car problem also. "work hard to play hard"

Was able totalk my wife into getting me a Savage for christmas. Good thing I looked at this thread. As far as 2wd stadium trucks I have a Jato 3.3 that is just plain sick. Have a lot of upgrades done to it. Also have an RC10GT TUB that I am restoring. But if you want balls to the wall speed then the Jato is the truck to get. It is very durable also IMO. Was gonna say something else but I forgot. Oh well if I remember I will post again lol.
