Default Losi 8ight-T 2.0 or 8ight-E 2.0?

Well, I want to venture into the world of 1/8th. But I cant decide between Electric or Nitro. Ive never had a nitro anything before and have had 2 electric 1/10th trucks.

The 8ight-E 2.0 will cost about $1200 and the 8ight-T 2.0 will cost about $1000.

I have never considered a nitro until today when I thought about how much better run times I could get. My only worry about nitro is the tuning and maintenance.

What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Id go nitro. Tuning is not that hard and nitro engines can run over an hour straight.

What about the 8ight 2.0 RTR and not the 8T2.0? I like buggies better because they accelerate faster, jump higher and further, and are funner to drive IMO. Truggies feel kind of weird on the track for some reason, hard to explain. You just gotta drive both of them somehow.

Ill get teh buggy, but would it really be faster than the E?

Tools would be the same. You might want a glow plug wrench though. Parts as essentially the same. And you could use after run oil.

Nitro is not faster, but more controllable. Nitro engines are 95% good, 5% lemon's. The 1/8 brushless mfg with the least amount of problems, Tekin, has about a 70% good/30% lemon ratio so in a couple years when electric is more reliable I would go with it, but I would rather not have a lipo or ESC catch on fire because I soldered wrong. Nitro is more controllable and has all the power you will need. Wheelies on demand if you were to lock the center diff, very controllable and smooth if you put oil in it.

Where can I find that conversion kit?
This will end up costing well over $1k right?

Did you just pull this number out of your hat? Where's the data to support it? I have 6 1/8 brushless systems and they all work well but based on your numbers at least 2 of them shouldn't... guess I'm lucky

The conversion kit is $140 I believe and you can get them at teknorc. http://www.teknorc.com/product_info....6446d55965cb88 not bad considering you get a new chassis with it.

The 8ight-T 2.0 race roller is $700 at amain, add $140 for the conversion kit and $300 for the brushless system and you're at $1140. That doesn't include radio gear.
but I would rather not have a lipo or ESC catch on fire because I soldered wrong.
That's right, I forgot how much safer nitro fuel is... everything is dangerous if you're not careful with it.

Exactly where are you pulling these mythical reliability figures from? If a company had 30% reject rate that actually made it to the customer they would not be around long. What a joke.

These are numbers I gathered from probably 50-100 electric racers at the track, and on the forum. I mean, Xceleron has major probelms (high failure rate), MMM has some problems, Tekin has some small problems, etc.

And exactly 83.8% of statistics are made up on the spot. [8D]

I want to get the 8ight-E 2.0, but the long run times of nitro is making me lean that way.

Also, if I went electric I would have to buy the radio system as well as batteries and a charger so that makes the price go up like $400-500.
