Glow engine recomandation for Gee Bee Senior Sportster from Hobby Lobby
I just ordered from Hobby Lobby a Gee Bee R3 and received today a Gee Bee Senior Sportster.
I don't think I got any chances on replacing it with what I was looking to buy because I'm on the other side of the world - south - east Europe and we pay various taxes for any goods imported from outside European Union. They don't refund already paid taxes.
So, now when it seems that I'm stuck with the 63" Gee Bee Senior Sportster, what glow engine (2 or 4 strokes) do you recommend ?
Thanks,
George

Wow ! With a .120 it will be a rocket ! I was thinking about a 90-95 4 strokes.
Any other opinions ?
Thanks

The recommended electric motor according to the HL website is the Axi Gold 2826/12 which they say is equivalent to a glow 40-46 two stroke:

So there you have it.
40 two stroke = 52-56 four stroke

RE: Glow engine recomandation for Gee Bee Senior Sportster from Hobby Lobby
I've found that Hobby Lobby is very conservative when it comes to glow power. I bought a Kwik Fli that was advertised for a .46 size and when I got the kit the instructions show .46 thru .55
Being a cautious type of person I used a .61 like the original Kwik Fli...
The 63" Gee Bee Senior Sportster is kind of a "draggy" airframe with that big cowl up front, and at a 63" span I would go with a 60 size engine like the majority of 60 inch span models.
I bought one of these as well from HL during the Thanksgiving sale.
I haven't decided but I'll either use a HB .61 2-smoke or an old OS 90 4-stroke.
Should make a good Sunday Flyer.
