Electric MXT-2s Part 2
Alright, well, in addition to the clutch shoes being partially melted and cracked, the engine is blown so I'm going back to the dark side until I can at least get a new engine.
So I also figured I would spend a bit more time on the conversion this time around. I'm going to be doing the same motor mount as last time (should be done by tonight) and I also build an esc mount out of plexy glass and put in in ontop of where the fuel tank would be. I also sanded down the side of the upper part of the chassis so I can fit the battery in there and I'm going to use some velcro strips just to make sure the battery stays in there. Also shaved down the upper chassis on the front near the servo cause the new servo horn doesn't fit right without it.
I'm also running a different system in it. Instead of the redcat system[:@], I'm going to run a [link=http://myatomic.com/catalog/viewsku?sku=LOSB9574&itemname=1_10_xcelorin_4800kv _brushless_combo]Losi Xcelorin 4800[/link] system. This is a much better system and the motor has gobs more power than the redcat motor had.
I also filed down part of the slipper clutch mount. If you look in [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKMG7&P=7]this[/link] link, you will notice that the part shown on the left has a little part that sticks out. This was pressing into the trans case causing more stress (loss of power, torque, speed, etc).
So between the slipper mount and the motor I think this should have a pretty nice increase in power.

I'm just about done. All that's really left is to shim up the mount a little bit so I get the proper gear mesh and to do something about the one-way bearing in the transmission so I have brakes/reverse.

Well, my xcelrin esc is dead again. Didn't even really get to run it in the mxt. It's time and I'm going to order a new one. Probably going to go with the Ez-Run / Turnigy [link=http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7188]60A esc[/link]

Tom.....
It sucks that your Losi ESC has Failed, (Again?).....
Mebbe Losi will Warranty it for you.......
On the Subject of EZ Run......I have the 35Amp Ez Run ESC in my Rage. I really Like it!

RE: Electric MXT-2s Part 2
I tried calling tech support and even though I had returned one before and they sent out a new one free of charge, the tech guy said that the warranty says "product will be free from defect at the time of purchase" and he interpreted that to mean that you look it over before you run it and once it's ran....that's it. I even told him I had emailed before and that they said send it in and sent me a new esc when I had problems, but that didn't change his mind. Not sure, I might give them a call again and see if theres another tech support person to talk to.

I did a little running with the redcat system. It's pretty slow on 6 cells so I think what I"ll do is see if I can get the xcelorin replaced, use that on my Losi or something, and run 3s lipo in the MXT. I found a different esc that would probably do a better job and it's about the same price.

Here are some pictures. I have a little video but it's reused music and it's with the digital camera so it's very blurry. Let me know if you want me to post it.
