Default This solder any good?

I'm using a 20W solder and it is not hot enough. I'm looking to get another one now.

This one looks pretty good:

It should be enough for me right. I do some basic soldering like changing the plugs, soldering wires to the motor etc.

By looking at the picture, the tip looks kind of fat. Would that make it harder to solder(deans connector). The 20W I have right now has sharp tip.

or should I look for 40W and it would be good enough.

80 watts is plenty, but if you're looking for a smaller size that will still solder deans easily then yeah pick up the 40 watt weller.

40w is more than enough for what you're doing. The only reason to get anything hotter is if you start making your own battery packs.

I use a radio shack dual heat iron. 20w/40w.

i use 20w on very tiny jobs and 40w on all motors/batteries/large guage wires.

keep in mind the guage of the solder also makes a difference.

go for the 40 its all you really need for your application. Its possible that the 80 may cause damage.

Been cookin' with a Weller 260W gun forever. Have yet to ruin anything. Got burned plenty of times though, when the flux in the solder boils and takes flight from the work.

I use one, because my dad used one, because his dad used one. I've tried the low watt stuff and fell asleep waiting for it to get hot.
