Default AXE CPv3 - Fixed Pitch???

Hello,

I am new here and VERY new to RC. I got a AXE CPv3 for a present and crashed it the first time I tried flying it. From what I have read, it seems "fixed pitch" helicopters are easier to fly. Is there anyway to convert my helicopter to fixed pitch. Or is there a better option?

I have looked at selling the AXE to get a fixed pitch helicopter, but from what I have found there is not much re-sale value in it. My wife paid 180 for it and looks like I would be lucky to get 70.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks for your time.

There is no way to make it fixed pitch that Iknow of. Ihave a CPv3 and they are just very sensitive. They have no gyro, so that makes it a bit tougher as well.

Keep the CPv3, but maybe get an MSR or something along those lines for a FPto learn on.

Fixed pitch isn't necessarily easier to fly. Converting the Axe to fixed pitch wouldn't make it easier to fly. The problem is the cyclic stick and orientation of the heli, when to move the stick, what direction, and how much. Read Radd's school of rotary flight here:
http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html
from battery 1 throught battery 10 then go out and practice. You'll be flying that Axe in no time.

Need parts?

Thanks for all the help guys. If I upgrade the head of the axe to alum would that help it withstand the crashes a lot better? Is there a complete kit I could order?

They are expensive (for my taste). They will probably hold up better in a crash, but you can still break and bend aluminum. Microheli made some parts for the Axe. You can find some here:

Tower's site also has some optional CNC parts.
