Other than the Wren engines, does jet cat have anything comperable to the small 12 lb thrust size/weight engines that are better suited for .90 size models?

Thank You

Mace

Default others include

mamba by swb turbines, and the new P-70 by jetcat that will come out soon also?

Jetcat has talked about a p-60 that may follow the p-70. Im thinking its thrust will be around 11lbs.

I thought "Funsonic" is going to be sold by "Robart"? Their website has not mention of this?

Hi Mace,

Don't discount the Wren. It's definately the best value on the market. Top notch quality and customer service.

Default Hi Sean

Well I think I just had my first ever "nuked" post!!

What is interesting is that the post was in direct response to a question (by you actually, up near the top of this thread)

But meanwhile, "ageless" rocks on!!

What a place we have here!!

Wanna know what's going on, PM me!!

That was your first !??!?

Wow. We must be slipping. Sorry for the delay in getting you initiated to the nuke-club

Well, the complaint we got (from RCU management BTW, not a competitor) was (as I understand it) that your post about when the P70s would arrive counted as a product announcement.

If you can show me where Jetfreak asked you when the P70 would arrive, please do so so that I may take that back to the bosses.

You're not being picked on BTW - 4 other manufacturer's rep's have previously had their posts nuked in this thread. (Since nuked threads no longer show up for you guys, that may not be obvious).

But meanwhile, "ageless" rocks on!!

Ageless has been asked about his affiliation with funsonic, which he promotes endlessly. He claims to be unaffiliated, only a satisfied customer. If you have any proof that he is in fact associated with funsonic, please share it. BTW, note that the RCU rules (http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...62&forumid=109) state that anyone who has an affiliation with an RC company, who does not disclose that information, may be banned.

Regs,
Gordonn

Default SWB Mamba

Veritech

I'm interested to know how you like the SWB Mamba, and was it worth spending the extra $$$. I'm interested in maybe buying one soon, if not the P-60 would be next chioce, if it comes out soon. If not that i'll get the wren 54.

thanks

Robert

Why put the Wren at the end of your list? It's by far the best value in small turbines . You might even learn a little bit about model turbines while you're at it. Instead of just being a user you can work on it yourself. And yes, it is approved.

Robert,
First let me say that is looks like I will become an SWB demo pilot in the near future so I guess that makes me sort of a rep so I am sure this post will get nuked soon

Anyway I have flown RAM 1000's for the past 4 years and this is my first small turbine. So far I am very happy with the fit and finish of this engine. I really am impresses with the attention to details that was paid in the design and production.

My engine is the electric start version and so far they seem to be very durable. The test engine at my local SWB dealer has over 150 runs on it (over 60 with the electric start installed) and it runs incredibly smooth. I was allowed to start it all last weekend at Michigan Jets.

Some of the things that sold me on the Mamba is the flexibility of the engine/ECU combination.

1. The electric start version still comes equipped with an air start. So if the starter motor fails at an event I can still get her breathing on air.

2. The ECU seems to be very flexible, if you lose either the RPM sensor or the EGT sensor in-flight and the engine will still keep running (at a reduced RPM setting to allow safe return to the field). If the RPM or EGT sensor comes back on line you will get full RPM and control back. So intermitent (sp?) RPM sensor failures WILL NOT SHUT DOWN your engine. I have been told that the low temp EGT setting is set to prevent fires if the motor would ever fail in flight so the fuel pump will not still feed fuel into the dead engine.

3. The ECU runs in a closed loop type system where the pump will speed up to maintain the commanded RPM. You can pinch the fuel line and watch the pump number increase on the data display but the rpm will stay the same.

4. Even though it is not a full auto transmitter start engine, all I do is open the propane valve (on the can) and hit the little red button until I see 35K on the data display. That's it! The ECU does the rest.

5. External electric started battery. No more charging ECU batteries after every flight!

6. The ECU is made my Andy Low of Electrodynamics. He made the original air start RAM ECU's. These ECU's were the ones that just simply worked with out issues.

Sorry for the long post but I really do believe that this motor is worth the extra $. I made my decision to buy one way before I was asked to become a demo pilot for them.

Please feel free to PM me for any additional information. I might be able to email you the Mamba manual.

Good luck with what ever turbine you decided to buy!

Thanks,
Randy DesRosiers
