Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (CANCELLED)
[b][/b Hey guys it is now official, the Mid Atlantic Jet Rally has been cancelled this year. The Helicopter, R/C and Rocket CHILDREN! failed to use any common sense what so ever, totally peed off the CO by continuing to go over the head of the OIC at Fentress. I just love it when you have guys that think they have this huge testicle fortitude but all thats apparant is little peanuts. The jet rally really had nothing to do with these bozos, but got caught in the riptide. Hopefully I can start over next year and put the event back on. I always loved seeing you guys showup and have a good time, gonna miss it this year. I will apologize for the moronic behavior of the children. They ended up biting their own butts for this because, their flying privileges have been cut in half, and one more complaint, Fentress will stop all flying activities permenantly.
I'm sorry and hope to see you guys next year.

RE: Mid Atlantic Jet Rally (CANCELLED)
Frank, Thank you for all of your efforts to try and resolve this for us who come once a year to visit and fly at the rally. Shame on those guys whos ego's were bigger then their brians for messing up this nice place to fly for everyone else. I had a simular occurance with our local government who oversaw the place we USED TO FLY AT and they solved the issue with now noone will fly here period ever! Hope you can work it out for next year. Really loved test flying there and spending the weekend with all of you.

DAMN!! To lose a GREAT event at a GREAT field. What a shame. Why can't adults act like adults? The immature actions of a few are going to affect a lot of flyers, not just the jet guys. Frank and his crew ran an CLASS A event. Also have to mention the base personnel keeping the participants and all the spectators well fed!!!. Great bunch of guys!!! Hopefully the Base C.O. will reconsider.

I spoke to Lt Sparkman today at Fentress, he feels the same as everyone else, it's a shame it had to come to this. He told me there should be a new CO by next year and I'll shoot for it again.
Thanks for all your consideration

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!
Ever since Frank announced that the Mid Atlantic Jet Rally has been cancelled for 2010, Larry Lewis, Michael Hollowell, and I (all from Raleigh, NC) have been trying to give everyone their Memorial Day weekend jet fix by trying to put together an alternative event on the East coast. Michael suggested a very good site, managed to get meetings with the proper authorities, prepared a presentation, and met with them along with Larry this week. As a result of these efforts, we now have something very exciting to announce:
the inagural
FIRST IN FLIGHT Jet Meet
May 28-30, 2010
Wilson Industrial Air Center (WO3)
Wilson, NC
The site is absolutely amazing, it's located a mere 2 miles off of I-95, and there are many great hotels and restaurants right at the interstate. Here's a picture of the preliminary layout that Michael put together.
We don't intend to take over the dates regularly held by the Mid Atlantic Jet Rally. We'll just use them this year to give everyone a good opportunity to fly somewhere per their usual annual holiday travel planning. We'll pick a different date for subsequent years since we intend to hold this annually from this point onward. Heck, another East Coast jet meet has been needed for quite some time.
We'll start a dedicated thread to provide all the details and handle all the event chatter but I just wanted to inform all you East Coast jet jockey's here first!

Outstanding work! Wilson not that far. I may attend if possible
Frank, if you're still reading this thread; have you ever thought of contacting the people at the Virginia Fighter Museum for a change of venue? It might be worth while to consider.

The Virginia Fighter Museum is in Pungo yes.

To my way of thinking it would be an ideal place and its not far from Fentress.

Yeah, not going to happen there. From what I have heard in the past, I don't think he wants anything to do turbines or maybe even RC in general. Besides, the runway is rough and the site is not conducive to our needs.
There is another place, old Coast Guard base that I think the city owns and uses for Firefighter or police training that would be ideal, but have no idea who to speak to.
