just purchased a revo...advise please!!
very 1st nitro truck...its the 5309 model..got it off craigslist...all i can say is wow. its bone stock. just a few questions....
do you really need to put after run oil in the motor if you plan on letting it sit over an hour? i would think maybe 48 hrs. what do you do?
do you really have to wash the pre air filter every hour of use?
how much water/mud can these things stand?
any other tips/tricks/dos/donts?
thanks guys

the stock air filter for the revo is more thenaddiquate.
Just keep a stock of extra filter foams and swap em out after every hour or so of use and wash em when you get home.
after run is not 100% nessary but not doing it will reduce the usefull life span of your engine.
not many tips or tricks the revo in stock form is pretty tough just dont suck at driving and maintain it properly and it will last a long time.
ive havent broken any thing on mine in a year or so but then agian i land 95% of my jumps and i dont beat my revo like a 5 dollar hooker.

RE: just purchased a revo...advise please!!
When I go bashing I bring 4-6 trucks at a time with me..After every shutdown thats gonna sit more than 30 minutes I putabout 5drops of marvel mystery oil in the carbto clean and lube the carb aswell as the bearings to ensure a good long life of my engines...
I hate to let it sit with fuel in the engine because the fuel absorbs moisture and that moisture causes some kind of oxidation to the bearings...when you start it up the oxidation is worn off taking a small fraction of bearing tightness along with it..Oxidation on the piston skirt will score and wear a cylinder like sandpaper too...It doesnt take much tooil it after useand it only adds to the life of your r/c..
For the full regimen after-run method I use CRC or Sta-Bil engine fogging oils to store them for the next bash-a-thon.Plus when I go to start up my engines next bash session I pre-oil it with a few drops of marvel mystery oil to heavily pre-oil the carb slider pluscylinder to protect it during the start-up..Ill never use wd-40 again...Im sure theres new finerderivatives of it now but back when I was using it there was just the Blue can with yellow banner/writing...That stuff dried up and left a residue on the cylinder walls and bearings actually helping kill engines because the engine is basically-dry-starting the next usage that takes place when sitting more than 2-3 days...The reason ther/c manufacturers recommend it because it seems logical and trustworthy but secretly they want you wear out the engines at a slightly faster than normal rate to ,perpetuate the sales of replacement parts or new vehicles.......
I used to use the shock oil as after-run oilin my old Kyosho Stinger 4wd buggy that I still have and ownedsince 1984which Iran sparatically til 1990..It is still running with the firstO.S .10 engine I bought for it but itsnot driving.I fired it up a few weeks ago just to see if it will still start-up....too bad it needs a few things to drive around again like the drive chain plus 3 dogbones which Im sure doesnt exist anymore plus a couple other things but the bones and chain is the main part...If I could find them id stick a a new radio system in it and use it again just for old-times sake...

Hey guys, does wd40 work pretty good for afterrun oil. And for after-run procedures don't you spray it in the carb and how do you get it in the cylinder head?

spray it in intake and take glow plug out to get it in cylinder head....dont know about wd-40. my traxxa manual says to use it..but i read a post on here that says it gums up and leaves a film...i used it once before, but im gonna use after run oil from now on.

I use WD40. If Traxxas says its fine in the manual (and they do) its perfectly fine to use. I hate having a bunch of different bottles of stuff anyway so its nice having wd-40 as after run oil, also can use it to spray down my bearings and whatnot before / after I go anywhere muddy.

for those of you with the motor saver air filter...is it any easier to get the air filter over the intake of the carb? i just noticed that the rubber of my air filter is starting to deteriorate where it goes over the carb intake.
