Searching for a basher!!
Hi all!
First of all, english isn't my primary language, so don't bash me if it's weird to read a bit Ty
I recently got bored of my RedCat Avalanche XP for so many reason.. but I'm sure I don't need to explain anything... It was my first truck, had fun with it and had my first experiences with RC hardware too. Now I'm searching for more handling/control/durability for my bashing sessions and I need your help!!
1. What is your experience level for driving and building RC cars and trucks? Have you ever driven one? Built one?
- I bashed my repaired my Redcat for about an year now. I put on this little RC more in parts than it's total value lol.
2. Where do you plan on running yourRC?
- Grass, sand, perhaps snow during winter.
3. What is your intention for buying? Are you going to race or bash?
- 100% basher! I was thinking about more control and handling than my Avalanche (not hard to find...)...
4. What is your budget?
- Around 400$-800$ (400 used or 800 new)...
5. What scaleRC are you looking for? 1/5, 1/8, 1/10, 1/12, 1/18, etc?
-1/10 or 1/8. I already own a monster truck (if I can call that a Monster truck)... I'm open to everything as long as it's a durable basher (with good handling/control)
6. What type of power source do you want? Electric or Nitro?
-Nitro/Electric.. I really don't care...
7. Are you looking for something durable with more support for replacement parts or "hop ups" or are you looking for
an inexpensive car just to have fun with.
-Durable. I tryed an inexpensive car and I won't retry thoses lol... I'm not a easy basher... I bash them hard too hard for redcat to handle...
8. Do you want a RTR (ready to run with everything but fuel and batteries) or a kit that you would have to build and
add parts manually to?
- I don't really care... I got my first RTR... and now I'm feeling a little bit more experienced and wouln't mind going with a kit.
9. What type of starting system do you want? Bump box, roto-start, pull start, electric-start?
-I'm a PullStart fan
10. Are you comfortable working on your own car for repairs or do you know a LHS (Local Hobby Shop) that can repair for you?
-I'll be doing my own repairs, but I'll be coming on here for help.
I bash mainly with one of my friend, and he's running a Savage 4.6. I can follow him everywhere, but mine is much more fragile and hard to control. I'm searching for something that could follow him, but much more durable (than mine). I really doesn't care about truck/monster/truggy... but I guess a truggy would make it more controllable... I need your help!

Definitely savage flux, for $800 you could get the truck and a couple lipos and a charger and still have money left for replacement parts but I don't know if you will need to replace parts with a savage flux..lol

Brushless systems are all the rave right now, but for what you are doing I would get the 4.6 for half the price. By the time you buy a good battery, charger, and everything else you will be 700 dollars in the hole. The Savage 4.6 can be had for around 380. Add in nitro and cheapy battery pack then you have a sweet ride for right at 410-420. Your friend has the same one so he can show you the ropes and if anything goes wrong he will be able to help.
If money is no object then the brushless savage is good, but remember you may end up spending 200 bucks on lipos and another 100 on a good charger!
Also don't discount the cheaper alternatives such as the E-Savage, E-Maxx, etc.

RE: Searching for a basher!!
The 1/8 scale buggies are some of the strongest, simplest R/C's you will find. Check out the ofna buggies. They wont be that great in grass or really rough terrain, but they will take a heck of a beating, and they are very simple and easy to work on. The driveline is extremely tough too.
I like the savage flux, so im not trying to sway you, just wanting you to explore your options.

Get a Truggy !!! soo much tougher and more capable then a Flux ! tho for a Savage a Flux is as good as it gets.....but even still a Flux doesn't hold a candle to a good Truggy.....

RE: Searching for a basher!!
For the money, i would take the LOSI XXL, way better than the SAVAGE X, will run circles around it, better handling beter suspension and way beefier parts, has the awesome Spektrum radio with telemetry that you can use for all of your future RC's (nobody just has 1 anymore)!!! Shop around and you can get it for $600 shipped!!! hre is manufactures link:
http://www.losi.com/Products/Default...rodID=LOSB0016Just my humble opinion though! I like the HPI savages that I have seen modded, but you have to upgrade their suspension a lot and that adds up fast, that is why I will take the LOSI XXL it's the best built and handling 1/8 scale monster truck available, just do your own comparison! Also you can get a Cen racing GST 7.7 that will stomp all of the 1/8 monster trucks out there for $400 shipped, but they are little harder to find parts for, but they are really tough (only 1/8 scale MT that was able to finidh ROAR without breaking) and has big awesome 5HP engine with 3 speed tranny!!!

RE: Searching for a basher!!
LOSI XXL and T-Ten you say??
After checking the XXL can you tell if if the chassis is only one plate or 2 plates ?
Why asking this? I distorted my Avalanche chassis plate after a few jumps.... (Didn't had a cam to record this was nice to see before it broke lol )
I'll go check the T-Ten too
I don't really need a monster truck. I just want a solid basher
And any good feedback from E-Revo users? I was interested in it too but so much $$$$!! (the fact that it can endure snow without any balloon or tricks is a really good point)...
Ty again all!
I'm learning something new within each post and really appreciate your help

2 plates on the XXL MT, yeah the Ten-T is awesome truggy! Jumps excellent very balanced, will do burnout on sphalt as well as cyclone donuts, very impressive low end and my radio is reading 49 to 51 MPH!!! It handles the Nitopit raceway in Az as well as the bigger 1/8 big brother Eight-T!I love mine and everybody else on here that has one has nothing but good to say about it, there are several ten-T threads so far!! Also check out videos of the XXL on youtube, very nice MT top of the line!!!

There's nothing bad about losi it's a great brand but I wouldn't get one for bashing over a savage they make more race type vehicle's, but thats just my opinion some will disagree so don't get mad if you do.

RE: Searching for a basher!!
Im a Savage fan myself. 7 gallons on my savage, and the transmission, driveshafts, and ALL the suspension, bumpers and plastic is original. It even has the original body posts on it. I have replaced the drive cups, and a couple other small maintenance items, but I havent broken anything. Its the toughest MT out there in my opinion.
