Default 1/10 On-Road 4WD Car?

Hello,

It's time for another of these which is best posts. Everyone has their opinions in separate posts with a lot of clutter. So here is what everyone and myself hopes is a clean and factual post

Which 4WD on-road car is the best or worst (Quality, tune-ability, handling, weight, ease of fixing, damage prone, etc)?

The cars I've found to enter into the debate are the following:
Associated TC5R
Hot Bodies Cyclone
Academy STR-4
Robitronic Avid
Schumacher Mi4LP
X-Ray T3
Losi JRX-S Type R
Serpent S400
Tamiya TRF416X
Yokomo BD5 World Spec
Kawada SV-10 Sigma 2 Ver.1.1
T.O.P Racing Photon

Please no arguing.

If your gonna just run up and down the street or take it to the track ?

Tamiya makes several diffrent chassis taht would work for anythingjust depends on what you want.

I have a cycolne s with graphite chassis that is a nice racer but parts and upgrades are expensive.

I have a cheapo madspeed that i enjoy as much or maybe more because everything is cheaper and it has all the same features minus the belt drive. It is just as fast in vta class equipped with same stuff as the cyclone.

Personally, I'll be using it for track days. But the purpose of this post is to get a general thought on the car, like what you have done MC4798.

How come you did not include the Tamiya TRF416X chassis? That gets my vote.

I didn't know it. But it's now in there. Why do you like it?

The Tamiya TRF416x is a fantastic chassis.

Hard to beat Tamiya race chassis, The ta-05 gets a vote as a dedicated racer also.

I have a JRX-S PRO w/ a GTB ESC and SpeedPassion 3.5t havent really been able to run it, waiting on new batteries. I've heard they run on rails and are really tough cars.

i have a few onroad cars and my tc4 has held up the best for me it handles brushless well once you put a steel diff in the rear and it dont cost to much. cant say how good it is on the track but in parking lots where i run it does well. i have the antenna in front because i had some range problem do to interference with the am receiver i am running and it did fix it

My vote goes to the Hpi Sprint Flux 2, I know its not on the list but you can modify it for almost any purpose you need, parts are cheap, and stock it is very nice. If you wanna go hard the first time hands down I say buy this. However, it is a pain if you snap a belt or damage a pulley as I have done twice. A belt stripping the rear diff can cause you 30 min of time taking the whole rear apart to replace or reapply a belt or diff.

If you haven't purchase a car yet. Go visit your local hobby shop and see which car they stock the most parts for.. In my area HPI parts are in abundance. Not knowing that I picked a great car but I had to order parts and wait. The common parts that get abused shocks, suspension arms, gears,...  See which car they stock the most parts for..

hi i dont actually own a trf416 but everyone who i know who does have one seem to be so content with there car, lol ive seen some dudes owning other cars from other brands who are always miserable as there cars have old worn plastic and there alloy parts are scratched and bruised and they always have some thing missing imn there toolbox. I wqant to get a tb03 but i keep delaying it because there going cheap and ussually that means that a new version of tb is coming out soonand i always like to be up to date with my rc cars.

I've owned the TRF 416, Hot Bodies Cyclone TC, Robitronic Avid, and Xray T3. The TRF 416 would be my choice of the bunch. It was easy to tune to different track conditions, durable, easy to maintain, and decent parts suppport at decent prices.

I'm currently driving the Xray T3, which is a great car. It's very tunable and easy to drive. Although, it does seem a bit fragile. I've had some odd parts break on it... shock tower, upper deck, hinge pin support. Parts are also a bit pricey and add up fast when you're preparing for an event. Nonetheless, this is an awesome performer.

I have several touring cars including an Associated TC3, TC4 and Xray T1 FK05 and T2 007. My Daughter has a Tamiya TT-01 and TB02. My friends I race with range from TC4s and TC5s to Corally RDX and an HPI Sprint 2.
Of all the cars we race (We race on Carpet and asphault alternating) The XRays always come out on top. The T1s and T2s are built like tanks and take alot of abuse. The T3s are definately more delicate, but are more adjustable than any other type of cars out there and can be made to almost drive themselves! The next ones that people are having great luck with would be the Sprint 2s as it is a great platform that can be adjusted and upgraded with no problems. The Associated TC4s and 5s have shown to be rather delicate also as they don't want to take alot of abuse, but the TC3s can take it as well as dish it out with the best of them.

Shaft is always better unless you are doing a lot of short course racing, belt driven vehicles always get damaged, such as rocks, pulleys, and differentials.

thanks, how does the tb03 cope with a 9t brushless cause i have a bit of trouble with my tt01e with my ezrun 9t. I want a car with a very reliable drivetrain cause i prefer to buy hop ups than keep replacing old shafts and stripped gears.
