Default Ultra Sport 1000 bash (help!!!!)

I purchased a US 1000 kit, I'm thinking about bashing it into a twin. got it narrowed down to 2 different engine choices

1. Pair of 20cc Homelite conversions (weigh about 2.25 lbs each)
2. RC SSV 17CC (weighs in at 2.6lbs with ignition and muffler...would have to add 2 ignition batteries to it)

(other engine suggestions welcome)

I know I'll probably have to stretch the span slightly to carry the extra weight, and the horiz and vert stab area. any suggestions on how much to increase the areas? I'm planning on fully sheeting and fiberglassing the wing. I'll add flaps to the wing...and possibly get slightly crazy and add spoilers too.

ANY SUGGESTIONS/HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

Thanks
Derek

should the stock wing be able to carry the extra weight without sending the loading through the roof? not sure how to figure it

I believe jrf is the designer of the US 1000. You might even PM him for more tips

See what the current wing loading is and then with the additional weight of motors, nacelles, etc see what you wouild need to increase the wing area to to maintain that original wing loading. Could go longer, or wider or probaby best to do a combination of both so neither length or width would need to be out of proportion. Will probably need to visit the tail area as well to accomodate the extra work it's going to have to do.

the us 1000 wing span is already longer than some builders like. a lot of builders cut the wing back the original 73-74" or whatever the original design was for more aerobatic performance. you might already have the additional winspan needed for the twin setup.
