rock crawler or boat?
i have the oppurunity to get arock crawleror a boat, but it has to be under $300, for the boat im dead set on the hk genesis (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11240) i feel it is the cheapest, best boat i could buy that will do what i want and do well in chop, but i also have the opportunity to buy an axial ax10 or scx10 (i want an rtr) so what do you think? if you want to see where i will be running the models go towww.youtube.com/user/hasek1616and that will give you a pretty good idea, and i do have a lake to run in besides that stream, and it is 15 or so minutes away, so what would you choose if given the option?

RE: rock crawler or boat?
i have both relatively close to where i live, ive got some rocks but mostly woods with fallen down trees, hills and puddles, so if i do get a crawler ill be waterproofing it, but i also live near a river that fits a brushless blast on nimh quite well and im 15 minutes away from a lake, but im down there quite often

RE: rock crawler or boat?
The AX10 is only fun for a little while then it gets boring. I'm converting mine to a SCX10 this coming winter as I think it will be more fun as a scale truck with a slightly higher top speed. As for boats. I've only owned one and it wasn't much fun but that was really because (like the crawler) it wasn't very fast. The newer crop of boats out there would plain walk away from my old Villian EX so they should be more fun. If you've never owned a boat I say get one but make sure it's a fast one...

If you get a summit you can have the best of both worlds. You can go in water like a boat and you can crawl roughly to the level of a standard 2.2 crawler. If you look online there are videos of summits crossing streams and even becoming fully submerged without a problem. I would honestly save my money and save up for the summit (or see if you can find one used).

RE: rock crawler or boat?
I voted boat but since you already have a boat the rock crawler would be something different than what you have in your signature. So I think I'll change to the SCX10.

Tough call, I love both RC boating and RC driving. Check out the boat forums here on RCU if you're interested in that side of the hobby. If you live near a body of water where you can run RCs, you'll really enjoy them.

If you live near water, then get a boat. If you find yourself having trouble finding a lake or pond, then get a rock crawler.
