i will be upgrading engines soon and trying to figure out what prop to go with. I haven't quite decided on the engine yet so I'm wondering if there's a general way to figure out the best prop size and pitch for any given set up. thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum!!
The best prop is a bit of a black art sometimes. Theres still a lot of trial and error at times - especially with less common configurations. But informed guesses will usually land you pretty close. My advice is to get the engine you want, let us know what hull you have (pictures can also help), and let us know what props you have on hand. Chances are you will have something on hand that will get you moving.
