Default 18MZ Telemetry

Would someone out there like to try something for me?

18MZ 7008 RX right, I think it must be possible to detect a turbine flameout by detecting a current change and sounding a warning. So I connected the High Voltage port to the Fuel Valve port on the JetCat ECU, set the threshold voltage from 4v all the way down to 0v and whilst the port voltage shows up on the home screen in the Ext batt panel when the voltage reads ZERO the alarm does not trigger?

Can anyone try this please?

m

Should have mentioned the port is 5v

This should work fine. Make sure you set the type of warning you want i.e. vibrate tone etc.....

I can try it later on when I get home.

Mick I found the same thing!

I've been working on this for a few days now and I had some great luck last night. I will start a thread shortly on a very simple, inexpensive and easy to build flameout detector shortly. And it should work well with the 18mz.

You can use the external voltage as a flame out sensor. Attach it to the pump, valve what ever you want. Set the low voltage threshold and the alarm (vibrate or audio) on this screen. If the pump or valve shuts off, the alarm goes. You will need to activate it with a switch so the alarm does not sound before start up.

Gary, what are the voice prompts? Can you record your own prompts or are they precanned? For instance, what would the prompts say for the sensor setup you are showing in your photo?

Having listend to what others have said and done my own experiments the solution to this in Futabas hands. Ithas become apparent the alarm cannot respond to 0volts so we need a firmware change. Then one alarm can be triggered from the receiver high voltage input from the fuel valve for one alarm say constant. The other engine fuel valve will be monitored by the soon to be available seperate voltage sensor triggering a different alarm for tother engine say pulsing. This is all relatively simply but relys on Fut giving us a 0v alarm.

If this is deemed to be a good idea perhaps a few of us could contact the Futaba product suggestion page http://www.futaba-rc.com/suggestion.html and request the update, can't be too difficult can it?

I'm working with the xicoy ecu on my kingtech and seeing if I can interface with the GSU. A telemetry module would be able to send down:
RPM, Fuel Pump Voltage, Temp, Turbine status. Reading up on the futaba SKU right now.

I had some good test results with the flameout detector I've been playing with
