Default I stripped the covering off; how to remove adhesive?

I used a heat gun and pulled the old covering off my Cub. There is adhesive residue left and I tried doing a search for info but came up short.

Do I even need to bother removing it since I will be recovering? If so, what should I use to get it cleaned up?

Thanks!

I ran into the same problem and used acetone but you really need to be careful not to soak glue joints with it. Wal-Mart sells some stuff called Goo Gone that will also help. Whatever you use it isnot a fun job

You're recovering, so I wouldn't bother. Unless there's large raised spots of adhesive.

Kmot, if there are spots you really need to get the adhesive off, Monokote Trim Solvent is the way to go. Goo Gone does not work well on this adhesive. Acetone works somewhat, but evaporates too quickly to be much good. Monokote adhesive is the most tenacious substance I've come across, and I've learned to avoid removing it wherever possible, just try to cover it over. It would be faster and more rewarding to build a new fuselage than to remove the adhesive from the old one, I kid you not.

Wow, ok I hear you guys loud and clear! [X(]

I will get some of that Monokote Trim Solvent and just smooth over any lumps I find. I am going to recover with white fabric and then paint over so it should work out ok.

Thanks for the advice!

Well...
I did recover my first trainer like yours.
For removing glue i used a rag soaked with acetone.
Make sure you have good ventilation or better do it outside.
I know acetone evaporate really fast and i think it does't damage
glue joints because after 10 seconds it's evaporated.
Anyway, i did a real nice job with that. I just sanded the
fusalage after cleaning it with acetone with my mouse sander with 400 grit paper.
It looked like a new trainer. Btw the whole fuselage cleaning took me about 30 minutes.
It's not that hard.
