sterring upgrade foe 25
I just got a savage25 for christmas, and want to re-build/tweek it before I run it.
I have a 5 cell nimh rec. pack coming and will use a new jr 3xs radio.
What servo would be best for the steering?
What is the best servo saver? I ordered one by Kimbro 1/8 gas size I belive.
I have lot's of hitech servos and they have always done well,(in planes).
I have a 605bb,5625mg,5645mg,5945mg.
and a 84 OZ. servo that came with the JR.
I will also be putting in the ball bearing HPI steering upgrade kit.
PS> would there be any advantages to up grading the thotle servo?
thanks,
Chas

I would go with the 5945 servo...gotta love em. The advantage to upgrading the throttle servo is speed and more power for the brakes. I would just take the servo off the steering(s-2) and use it for throttle.

More power for brakes yes, but does nothing for speed at all.

RE: steering upgrade for 25
well I just put in two HS-5625MG servos.
The 5945 is not as long and did not fit well. The 5625's dropped right in,with 6volts, I bet 130 oz. and .14 sec. trans. time, will be much better than the stock servo. Plus I will use high speed Tx &Rx of the JR 3xs
to take advantage of digital speed. (like I could move that fast anyway)
What is the torque of the stock servo? does anyone know?
Which Kimbro servo saver is the best for the sav.25?
Thanks, Chas

The best steering setup for the Savage is the monster Pirate. This is what you'll need to for Mod http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXABH5&P=0 and you'll be able to use a solid alloy servo horn since this already has a servo saver built into it.It comes with ball bearing and swaps right into the Savage. Here is nice guide on the install. http://www.savage-central.com/ftopic9877.html

Not sure on that one?I bought the GPM alloy linkage before I learned of this setup so i'm not running it myself. From what i've read this setup is better and is a direct replacement so I guess you'd use the stock hardware but if you use and alloy servo horn you'll need a maching screw for the bar.

i've got the kimbro #124 on a hi-teck 5625 servo now.
Let me know when you figure out the set-up on that other servo saver,it looks great, but I would rather your experience figure it out than mine.

The MP servo saver seems like it was made for the Savage. It fits perfectly (with a small washer on the top) and has completely removed all the slop from my steering. I could not believe the difference in steering response.
This is by far and away, the best mod I have done on the ol' Sav. It took about an hour to install (after a lot of s$£%^$ about) and cost me £15.
The mod can be used in conjunction with the ally GPM set up, you will only need to remove one of the bell cranks. Any one who wants to bash or race thier truck to any serios degree should definately do this mod, it is sooooooooo much better and stronger than stock its frightening!!

actually you should remove them both to install the bearings on the second (stock bell crank)
