Default Look what I found in my engine

The other day I was running my savage and I ran out of fuel so I filled it up and when I went to restart it the engine felt like it was flooded even though it wasn't I know this because I backed the flywheel up a little then it turned over fine but it didn't run right it was kind of sputtering so I shut it down and went home. When I got home I took the back plate of the engine off and found a piece of some kind of plastic or something like that. The thing is about a half inch in diameter and looks amost like it is a bearing retainer or something. I know it didn't get sucked in the carb because I have never ran it without the airfilter on and I don't thing it could make it through the intake without stopping the engine. Can anyone tell me what this is?

it looks like its off the front bearing if it didn't get sucked in from the Aircleaner assembly tube.

Slide the crank out and see if the seal is missing off the inner side of the front bearing.. if so you may have cooked the bearing runnig a little toooo lean.

Looks like bearing retainer material, probably rear.
I'd go ahead and disassamble the motor for full inspection and repairs.

I bought an LE new never out of the box untill I bought it back in
January. Because of the cold weather at that time here in NJ, savage
just sat on card table looking sweet. Anyway I was looking at the thing and
taking things off of it and when I removed the airfilter I looked inside
the black rubber tube and sticking inside was something similar looking
to your mystery thing. What my thing is is leftover flashing from the
mold when the rubber elbo was made. I was a bit pissed, but the engine
had not been run yet. If I had started it without removing that piece of rubber
it would have been sucked it to the engine. I keep it so I could ***** to the
hobby shop where I bought it but I seem to have lost track of it.
Damn wife always moving my stuff!!!!!!

You cooked your engine bearings. I've seen two Savages cook their bearings 'running out of fuel'. One was like yours, and one was spitting metal out the exhaust. The first was locked, the second would actually start easily then stall at throttle.

Running out of fuel = running engine without lube. Not advised.

Well the engine seems to runs fine it idles good and is good at WOT.

I tried to pull the crank out last night but I was unable to get the conrod off of the crank is their some trick I had the sleave out do I need to take the piston off the conrod first?

Try removing the sleeve first. This allows a little more movement in the piston, usually allowing you to remove the con-rod from the crankshaft.

Ok I figured it out it is off of the rear bearing it missing the retainer the brown deal in the picture. What kind of sucks is I need to replace the entire crankcase but it is only $50 but I should replace the piston and sleave while I'm at it just cause they are not in the greatest condition and that is $85. I think I should just upgrade and keep this as a spare.
I'm thinking about the OS 30VG or maybe the Surefire 32

Thanks for the help

Aaron

Just buy a new engine: sts 28, LRPz28 spec 2 & SH Pro Spec, Axial .32 can all be had for cheap.

true, but thats only for 10-15 seconds, or less. I always do it, its better than stopping the car and draining the excess fuel out before applying afterrun.
