they both will work fine... assuming you choose the proper torque and speed for your application
Ain't that the truth... Me? I ain't bitin'!

I suppose there's enough ammunition in this one for everyone. Let the bullets fly...

I just bought the ones with the titanium gears, 330 oz-in of torque, and programability. I voted with my wallet. My plan is to use a single servo on each aileron and the rudder of a 34% Extra.

Why arent Futaba digitals as popular as Hitec and Jr in giant scale planes..

Could it be distribution? I use both and like them. Only like that the Hitec can be programmed.

I always used Futaba stuff for years..when I got into Giant Scale, most items seemed to be geared toward Hitec and Jr..especially aluminium servo arms..I went with the JR's but would have liked to stick with Futaba..Also it seems Futaba digitals are a lot bigger and heavier than both Hitec and JR's

RE: Digital Futaba servos verse Digital Hitec servos
Id be delighted with JR or Futaba but I wouldnt put Hitec in anything i wanted to keep. Ive had to many of them go wobbly on me either completrely dieing, not centering properly or in some other way not perfforming up to scratch. Now I only use them in cheap small gliders and shocky type things where i am trying to keep costs down. The price difference of servos in a giant scale, a jet or a 2m pattern/3d is neither here nor there in the overall cost of things (like <10%).

I have flown Hitec servos at national-level competitions (IMAC Nats, Tucson Sootout, XFC) for the last two years, and I have been very pleased. I have 5955's with more than 1000 flights with nominal gear wear and no reliability issues. If you go with Hitec, you will not be disappointed. Futaba and JR also offer very high-quality servos. Take your pick.

RE: Digital Futaba servos verse Digital Hitec servos
Thank you very much guys, good information actually, it will be my first 35% and I want to make sure that I select the right stuff. One thing I did notice that Hitec servos are lighter than Futaba servos, programmable, and of course cheaper.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

RE: Digital Futaba servos verse Digital Hitec servos
I like both, on my last project I went with HS5955TG all around for the Titanium gears.
Katana 36% AW
DA100 stock mufflers
HS5955TG all around except throttle S9252
2 per each ail, 1 per elv half and 2 on rudder
Had dual 149pcm RX's but now have the new 14MZ RX in.
dual Fromeco reg's set to 5.4v with custom heatsinks

RE: Digital Futaba servos verse Digital Hitec servos
I have had more failures with Hitec and JR than Futaba. This is spread over a large number of high-end servos. Maybe just coincedence, don't know.
The bottom line, for me: choose the correct servo for the right job. Hard to really compare as it is seldom apples-to-apples anyway. A good servo set up wrong in the wrong application WILL fail. Does not make it a bad servo.
Fire away if you feel like it.
