Default Newbie Aeromarine apache 50

Hey guys
just started working on my first build an aeromarine apache 50. After seeing all the Cat's Im thinking I should have gone in that direction, oh well maybe my next build. I have been reading a ton of information and have gotten some great setup advice from Slomotion and others so i'm off to a good start ( I think ) If you guys see somthing funkie please chime in. I will keep you all updated on my progres.

Specs.
AM Apache 50
Zenoha 260pum Pro mod from BH Hanson
2" 90% hanson header BH Hanson 2" band pipe ( I am woundering if I could have gone with a 3" header the pipe is going to be close to the radio bax )
Top secert hardware, I haven't picked up trim tabs yet. Am I going to need them?
Props, I currently have a prather 75, Prop Shop 7016 2 blade, ABC H-2718 3

with this hull and set up if properly trimed can I get 50-55mph out of her?

Trying to post some pic. hope this works

Look nice when their clean & new don't they. I run a 56" Apache.
You will have to shorten that header to get the pipe on it's correct tuned length, when it's angled up a bit the pipe should clear the radio box, get that back as far as you can. An Octura 470 prop would be a good starting point, trim tabs ok, set level with keel and about 1/16th up from the bottom of hull. You should get 45-50 out of her.
Why go for cat's? Their great but won't corner or handle rough water like your deep vee, you'll love it.
Pics look good by the way.

Nice clean setup. Too bad Aeromarine has never got their setups section on their website off the ground..... it's there, but an empty page

Thanks Gary
I will trim the header back when I get the pipe on and do some mesuring. The cat's just seem to haul butt, but your right this is just a sport boat I'm am looking forward in getting her wet I am hopping for a little more than 50mph I want to go FAST.

if you wanted to go fast why get a sports boat? just a thought , from what ive read the apache is a great all rounder and will handle very rough water unlike most cats.gary knows better than most having raced with one in offshore.enjoy it im sure shes gonna be a fun boat .

I bought the hull last year and shortly after found this site and others, probably should have done it the other way around. I am sure I will have a great time with her I have read good things about the Apache also. I'm still learing so its probably a good place to start. Next build is either a Zippkit Rivet or a Cat.

you wont be disapointed im sure and theres lots of guys have faster boats and still run the old apache so they must have something.also theres something special about running on rough water too and most race boats wont handle it .im new too ive just finnished a scratch built mono with a weedy engine and im getting 35 mph with it so im sure 50 + mph is possible with a zen in your boat.

Nice job

I had a Aeromarime 50" Apache with a stock Zenoah BH.Hanson pipe

Speeds around 45 MPH, you should have no problem getting over 50 + MPH

Handles the rough water great .

Keep up the pic's of your build !

hi tom...your apache build is looking great. when you get 'er done we can meet at the model pond. would like to see it run.

dont know if you know it, but there is a guy opening up a little hobby shop at shelter island. looks like he will be selling rc gas boats and stuff. does not seem to be open yet. but has a few nice boats in the window. first shop ive seen in san diego that is into boats; thats good news.
