stripped engine head screw hole
ok so i stripped the hole in the crankcase where an engine head screw goes into, could this cause an airleak and cause trouble starting?

RE: stripped engine head screw hole
well you could always tap a new thread in it, it easy, go to your LHS ask for 2 3.5x15mm screw, next cut 3 grooves into the side of one of the screws(make the grooves about 10mm up the side of the bolt. its easiest with a dremel with a cutting wheel. next put the screw into the stripped hole and push down with you hex handle on the bolt with some(not alot) of pressure and begin to turn. you should feel it catch and begin to cut. but when you put it in make sure it is perfectly straight up so it wont go crooked into the hole. now every 1/2 turn you make back it up about 1/4 turn. once you are in about 2 mm its a good idea to back the bolt completely out and clean and oil it. keep doing the 1/2 turn in the 1/4 out method but about even 2-3 complete revolutions of the bolt bring it out and clean it of metal shards and re oil it. Or if you feel it get stuck back it out completely. it may take some time but take it slow, you may end up saving yourself $30 worse come worse you completely mess up but its not a big deal seeing as you need a new block anyways. but believe you me this happened to me,except i stripped 3 holes and doing this worked perfectly. the only thing left to do is to drill out the cooling head a little so the 3.5mm screws will fit through it.

or you could be smart and drill the hole with a 2.5mm bit to get rid off the damaged thread and buy a 3 mm UN fine quarter inch taper and butt tap to tap the new thread in there.
