JR 8711 Jitter's
Hi all,
My 8711 servo jitter's on my pull pull rudder and I was wondering if I should send it in for service? It didn't start doing this until about the 20th flight and my bigest fear is a hard over rudder in mid-flight!! [X(]
Thank's Marc 540[8D]

RE: JR 8711 Jitter's
Good question Marc, I have one on the rudder of my WH 35% Extra. It started the side to side jittering on the 4th or 5th flight. Touch it and it stops. Really annoying. The guys I talked to said its no problem in flight cause the air pressure keeps it stabilized.

Hello,
i have the same problem and it is really annoying!
If you tighten the pull-pull wire it will go away for a while but then comes again....
My servo came new with a lot of play for such an "high end" servo. [:@]

Read this Thread watch the Video...........
http://media.putfile.com/JR8711-Servo-
If it looks like this the servo is defective and U nned to send it in for a replacement.

RE: JR 8711 Jitter's
On my 35% planes, I have my JR8711 on direct rudder push/pull with the servo mounted around 6" away from the rudder control horn.
All of these planes have occasional to steady jitters when in the neutral position. As soon as I give some stick movement, the jitters stop. I believe this is from the fact that at the rudder neutral position, there is no forces on the servo. These servos have a tight dead band meaning the servo is always hunting for a center position that does not exist at no load center. At any rate, I have precise rudder control in the air.

RE: JR 8711 Jitter's
So does this mean that I should not fear the dreaded hard over rudder in flight? Thank's for all the replie's and more opinion's very welcome!

Steve has it 100% correct.
Turn the plane on its side and I gurantee the rudder servo will not jitter due to the weight of the rudder being loaded on the servo now.

RE: JR 8711 Jitter's
If the jittering (hunting for center) really bugs you like it did me, you can fill the gap between the rudder counter balance and vertical stab with a few layers of your favorite iron on covering. Depending on how large a gap you have, 2 or 3 usually will do it. Just enough to fill the void and provide a slight dampening effect at center. You can experiment first with a few strips of electrical or masking tape applied to the vertical stab to see if this will work for you.. I've also applied (glued) a layer of thin clear poly (the thin clear plastic used for windows and windshields on my models) to fill the gap thus applying a very slight resistance at center between the counter balance and v-stab. Works for me...[)]

so does this mean the elev. servo's will jitter when on it's side due to no weight from the elevator's?
