I got a lot of my Blade CP parts from Horizon before getting my Trex SE, so they send me their catalog. The last one had a big spread on the 450SA. It's ARF. Looks nice for the price. It's basically a cheaper version of the SE without all the blinged out CF and blue aluminum.

I agree the SA looks very nice for the price. Excellent option to buying an SE.
The carbon fiber upper and lower sideframe upgrade is only $ 22 .........nice.

Horizon Hobby is the exclusive distributor. That means the T Rex will be in every hobby
shop in North America by the end of the year

I will be able to go to my LHS to pickup crash parts.

I just got the 450sa and am wondering what servos to use on it.I have both the ds285 and HS-65HB.And the 401 gyro with the 9650 serve for the tail.Only sport flying, no 3D.

I like the HS65mg's but the 65hbs work well but strip in a crash. The 285s are nice servos, I have some of them as well and would use them w/o hesitation but if I were buying new I'd get 65mgs

ReadyHeli in Jupiter, Fl. has the SA now too. With lightning-fast shipping.

I'd use the HS's since they are cheaper.

Save the 285's for later.

replace the tail drive shaft asap! mine popped off during flight. if your's is plastic get the v2 metal tail drive shaft. this is the part that turns the belt.

Good starter heli I own one, & now a Trex 500.
been upgrading mine since I bought it. If ya got the budget buy a V2 a skip the upgrades

If you skip doing the upgrades yourself, I think you miss alot of lessons on these things are built and set up. To me, trainers are for learning....flying skills, building and rebuilding skills, choices in what works well for you and what doesn't. For me, it isn't the machine that is the limiting factor in my flying. When it is, then the next level of machine is more justified. That said, I have my 450SA set up w/ Hitec 65 mg servosm 5000gyro and 5083(?) tail gyro servo, Spider gear landing gear w/ align skids, the metal pulley tail belt gear, held on the shaft w/ JB Weld, metal tail case and just fo teh fun of it metal head button and fiberglass horizontal and vertical stabilizers. I use teh stock motor and ESC, and used Finless Bob's building and soldering videos on Heli freak extensively

I have a Raptor 30 that came with a fully bent tail boom, mostly torn up engine and no blades that I can hover now. I just got a JR AirSkipper kit to build for a learning experience too. I look at how many hours of hobby time I get out of these machines and it's not bad at all on a cost per hour basis. Certainly not nealy as much as my friends that fly full scale, go deep sea fishing, even flats fishing and golf. Have fun with what you get, and if you're learning, I can't recommend the Radd's school of Rotary flight lessons enough. Great hovering on the Raptor.... How is that nitro heli working for ya ? Are they easy or simple to grasp in terms of maintaining and understanding the mechanics ? I've only been into electric, but always had the curiousity of nitro. Just not sure if the engine or other areas are a chore to tune or what not. I would really love to get a Trex 700 someday, but I'am just a little leary on what to expect. I'am hoping there not as bad as one would think they might be.....
