wtd: F-16 retract gear mount picture
Can someone post a picture of retracts mounted in a turbine F-16? I'm looking into converting my Byron F-16 and want to see some pictures detailing the mounting / configuration of retracts. Specifically the formers and retract mounting plates.
thanks,
JR Gautreaux

Jetflyer,
I have about 90 landings in my Philip Avonds F-16 ( 23.5 lbs) standard landing gear, I just put on a new set of rubber tires, I had some very strong landings and the gear just took the abuse, still working fine, check the address to PA site. I hope this help you.

Richard,
I went to that site before my post. I'm planning on using regular retracts and not scale gear so I was trying to fing a picture of an F-16 with regular retracts. I have an idea of how I might build the formers, but I want to see other methods.
By the way, the PA F-16 flies great. I've seen a few at jet events and they performed well.
thanks,
JR

Jetflyer,
PA offers two types of LG, the scale and the not scale, I have the not scale, they are simple robarts with what I think is a 1/4 inch wire cover with resin and painted to give the impression of a oleo strut but is not!, the breaks are BV, I am attaching some pictures.

RM

RE: wtd: F-16 retract gear mount picture
Thanks a lot guys, exactly what I needed. Pictures!!! I've kept my Byron F-16 around after using it to make my debut into jets a few years back. I think it has set long enough around in my garage collecting dust that I might try my hand at converting it for turbine power. I plan to vacuum bag the wings with carbon fiber and add some uni-directional carbon on both sides of the wing spar. Each control surface with get it own servo and I plan on molding some fuel tanks to get enough juice onboard to satisfy my Ram 750P. I'm not looking for speed in this conversion but I always liked the way the F-16 flew. I'm going for reliability over the old piston engine. As I make a path down this road I will posted my progress on my website.
thanks again for your help guys,
JR Gautreaux
