(2) Hot-Knife maidens
Knife #1 is the one with the wing tips and wheel covers (this Knife is my brothers-) Power is an Irvine-53, 12.25x3.75 APC, Tower muffler, 5% nitro, & all std. servos controlled by a JR-8103
Knife #2 is mine withOUT the plastic stuff, Power is an OS-46FX, 12.25x3.75 APC, stock muffler, 15% nitro, and all std. servos (148's and 3003's) using my Futaba 9C
Both flew very well with their respetive set-up... The OS-46FX gave mine unlim. but slow vertical climb, while the Irvine-53 was a vertical rocket- (As expected-) special attention should be paid to the CA hinges in the wing- Knife #1 had the left aileron come almost completely off during flight, make sure the slot is both snug and deep enough for the hinge(s)-
We started with a fairly conservative CG about 4" back so spins were predictable and NOT flat, knife edge flight was hindered by both the CG and large fuel tank supplied with the ARF (Unless you wait til you are lower on fuel-) moving the CG back should cure this-
My brother and I got these to throw together, goof off and hopefully fly in the Clubs fun-flys...(If I can make mine last long enough[X(])
Nothing in the category of Top-Cap, Su-Do-Khoi, etc. but for $99- and any 46 sized engine fun will be had by all-
Th review in the RCU mag. about this plane is pretty much dead-on as far as I can tell.... More to follow later

RE: (2) Hot-Knife maidens
razor i run mine with an old 40SF, vertical is unlimited, hover pull out is a bit slow but SOLID AUW is 3lb 13oz. no plastic for me either, did it make any difference on your brother's? knife edge on this one BLOWS!!! terible coupling, roll and pitch. my CG is right about 4 1/2, be extra careful on the CG at 4 3/4 mine was VERY tail heavy, inverted flight required 1/4 stick of BACK presure to maintain level flight, without it it would climb to the moon inverted, the elevator was also very sensitive at 4 3/4.even tail heavy it would not flat spin worth a dam and knife edge still BLOW'S. I've got 75 or so flight on mine now, hinges are fine, i did seal them with monokote though. try a dubro 6oz square tank, fit's nicely on mine. apc 11x4 works best for me on mine, on my .46fx equiped fazer the apc 11.5 is not bad I like the apc12x4 better. all in all the Hot Knife is an ok profile HOWEVER I can't wait to stuff it so I can replace it with something better!!!!! the boss(my lovley wife) say's no more planes unless I crash

Then just start practicing inverted tail drags. It won't be long until you will be able to get another.

RE: (2) Hot-Knife maidens
Will try the props. mentioned thanks- also will be using the Tower muffler.... I got the engine from my brother and one muffler bolt is rounded off may be hard to remove-
To beat around it flies pretty well- compared to OMP, or even just the Topcap it is nothing special but cheap fun none-the-less!
I would prefer a MVVS-49 or Webra-50 but the 46FX was a great deal-[X(]

RE: (2) Hot-Knife maidens
I agree with John, the flat spins are terrible, knife edge sucks and DONOT go past 4.75cg. The price is right if you want to bang it around. I've had about 50 flights on mine and i'm already bored with it, i'm waiting like John, soon as i stuff it, next airplane please. The one thing i do like about the hot Knife is that i'm feerless with it. Lower ,lower, lower.

RE: (2) Hot-Knife maidens
I test flew mine over the weekend and was quite pleased with it. It won't flat spin, but I dd find that the knife edge on mine was a little better than I had expected after reading these posts, as it will climb in knife edge. I do know that with flaperons and spoilerons this thing will definitely chase it's tail during a loop! I'm running an OS .50, 12.25 x 3.75 prop on 20 percent nitro. I bought this thing on sale for $80, and feel that it may have been one of the best 80 bucks that I've spent. If you want something that flies like a Sledge or an OMP Edge, then go buy one. If you want something cheap to have a good time with, then this plane is worth looking into. Just my .02 worth!
