Default Do you like your zenoah G-62

I am debating putting a fuji 64 in the wild hare extra I ordered. Although I see zenoah has a comparable engine. I already own a fuji 50sb and really like it. Although I see alot about the zenoah I would like your input. How is it to start? How long does the ignition battery last? Is it easy to get setup right? Thanks, Brenden

The ignition lasting is up to you with the size battery.....Me personally I dont like Zenoah.........I like DA tho.......I think the DA is better for the plane......It is lighter and same power.....The zenoah in my eyes is a big dog.....no efence

I have a zenoah G-62 on a 1/4 scale extra and it flies very well,it is a very reliable easy to opporate engine. It mounts easy and snugly with an iso mount. It like most gas motors is a banger so you mayneed to up the idle just a bit. To start it choke it good and then if fires right off with a spring starter. I love my G-62 and it pack loads of power. I left the magnito setup on it,I don't have the funds to switch over to electonic ignition but I imagin it would work just as good if not even better and lighter with one.

Although they are some more powerful engine for this plane (DA, 3W, etc) If i will have to choose betwen a Zenoah and a Fuji, I would choose the Zenoah. I dont have a fuji, but I have a G45 and it works great. Mine is without an ignition, but I bought a Spring Starter and it starts ant the first few clicks. Is a well all around engine for sport aerobatics....

I have five (5) G-62's, and all five are equipped with the C&H Jump Start. They usually start with one flip of the prop, after hand choking to get a wet carburetor. After running, flip the switch to its own magneto, disconnect the starting battery, and go fly. I have run G-62's since they were first offered on the market - they are the best engine going for the money you pay.

Jim,
Knowing nothing about the zenoah is the c & h jump start the electronic ignition? So that means you only use it to start the plane? How is the g-62 muffler noise wise? Do you use stock mufflers?

I run 3 of the G-62's w/o battery starts, but all three have the opt. spring starter. For the $425.00 retail price, they're hard to beat for the money. I use the Bennett and Bisson smoke mufflers on mine and the noise is not all that loud. I've also got the Byron 50 (same as Fuji) and it is quality also. I'm not sure how the 64 compares in price to the G-62.

Randy,
I can get the fuji 64 about 25.00 less than the zenoah. The fuji with stock mufflers weighs 4oz more. They articles I read on comparos say that with equal props and testing the fuji will swing a equal prop 500rpm more does this mean a damn thing? Idono, I like the fuji 50 I already own and for a magneto It starts nice runs awesome but I cannot compare it to anything else do to the fact I don't own any other gassers. I am just at a toss up at which to choose. Hand flipping the fuji isn't a issue. BEING YOU HAVE BOTH IF YOU BOUGHT ANOTHER WHICH WOULD YOU BUY? Fuji64 Zenoah g-62 Thanks, Brenden

If it matters I want to stick it on a wildhare 300extra 84in. w/ smoke

Personnaly owning a Zenoah G62 and a G-45 as well as a byron 50. I would buy another Zenoah they are great all around engines. I have flown the Fuji engine though,it felt to me as if the zenoah just has more umph behind it. I have never left the stock muffler on any of my gassers.

If I have said it once I have said it a hundred times. The absolute best bang/engine for the buck is an RC Ignitions G62. It is the smoothest running most powerful engine for the money out there. I have never owned a Fugi, but I have owned more than one G62 and I am sure that if I live long enough I will own a few more.

reply to post #6:

The C&H jump start is only used to start the engine. It gives a spark to the plug - no matter how fast the prop is flipped. It also sparks at top-dead-center so there is never any kick-back. I used to use spring starters, but this way is a lot better. and YES, I use the stock muffler. It's quiet, and all five of my planes with G-62 are so equipped. Three of them are inside the cowl, so I have made an adapter that channels the exhaust into a 1 1/2. dia. exhaust pipe. They are really quiet! If you look close at the photo of my 1/3 scale Piper J-4E, you can see this pipe coming out the bottom side of the cowl.

Don's Hobbies in Salina, Ks. I think also carries the Zenoah line. 1-800-972-6273

Bottom line is I think the $25.00 might be deciding factor. Both engines will probably outlast our interest in gaint flying unless the ground intervenes. I haven't had to send either make off for repairs, so I don't know if the Fuji parts are any harder to obtain. Seems like more houses sell the Zenoah than Fuji.

By the way, I've had 2 G-23's, a 38, 45, and 2 G-62's. Yes, I like Zenoah engines....

I love my G-62... Starts within 2-4 flips without any "mods" done..... Stock engine. I found the standard "muffler" to be way too loud, so I´m using a Toni Clark rear mounted silencer. With this muffler and a soft mount I can get about 94-95 dB at 9ft, which is the max sound level normally allowed here in Denmark. I mostly use MenzS 24x10 (5800rpm) or MenzS 26x8 (5400rpm). They load the engine down a bit, but gives good thrust at low speed which is an advantage when towing gliders.
I have never seen a Fuji 64, but I would not hesitate to recommend the Zenoah.

Is the factory ignition for this engine just a regular magneto?

Yes - factory ignition on the G-62 is the standard magneto. I got my Jump Starts from Reid's Quality Model Products - [email protected]

I bought a G-62 because I'm cheap and so was it, and I wanted simplicity for my first gasser, and they are bullet proof so I'm told. I like it a lot. It starts right up with a couple flips. Has good power to hover my 20# 1/3 scale Extra and pull out of it. Follow the instructions- Choke at 1/2 throttle till it pops then open choke and close throttle and flip. On thing though, ignore the part about where the rotor magnets should line up to the coil. I flip on the compression stroke and it works a LOT better!

any UK members out there with a G62 they dont want/surplus it will find a good home here, i see the price in the US for this engine is far lower than here.
