Default R.I.P. GP P-38.... What now for the LA 25's???

I had a blast with the Little G.P. P-38 Profile, and it was my first twin. But after over a year of flying it, It met it's demise today[]. I salvaged all electronics, fuel tanks, and engine's. All are in perfect shape.
The Little P P-38 was always a eye catcher at the field. And a fun one to fly....So what do I do now???? I'm not ready to step-up to a big boy twin yet, So do I build another one or move on!!!!!!!!!!

In need of a New Little Twin.

Thanks Robby, I sure hated to loose it. My own dumm fault, A mix up on a new radio change from a 8103 to the 9303 and I was'nt paying enough attention to switch assinment.[:@]
I looked at the TwinStar..It's very nice.. but the little LA's mite be a bit small.??
I know I will miss that little heard of "BEE's" zipping around the field intell I build something new.[&o]

Get a GSP Transall...Two of those .25s would be plenty of power and they look great and what I have read Fly even better... Try one out.. You can put markings or decals on it to look like Color Scheme from the Coast Guard, National Guard, NATO etc...
Here is the description from www.jet-hobbies.com
The c-160 Transall features a fiberglass fuselage and pre-covered foam wings. The kit is euipped with 10 wheels, fiving an extremely steady and straight landing roll. The tanks are positioned behind the engines which allows a stable fuel supply and easy installation. The twin engines give a powerful and shaking sound which you cannot experience with a single-engine aircraft. You will enjoy flying this model with great delights.
Wing Span ....... 1830mm(72")
Weight .......... 2850g
Length .......... 1350mm(53")
Wing Area ....... 37.5dm2
Wing Loading .... 76g/dm2
Airfoil ......... Torino-26
Engine .......... 2c 20~25 4c 26
Radio ........... 4 Channel 6 Servos
This is my suggestion.... I think it would be great!!!!!!!

JP,,
nemesis4u idea is a great one as well...
The Twinstar does fly well on .25LAs.. I have one I am doing right now like that
and will be adding to my Official HobbicoTwinstar thread about it using these motors...
I have already completed one this way and it was a great flyer and did everything well..
No, it did not do full circle, wide loops.. But took off well,, flew well,, easy to fly.. Rolls
well. Gains alt well... Rocketship,, nope. Fun flyer.. YUPP

Robby,Ya know for 120 bucks, The TwinStar is hard to beat. I just wish I had a few 40 LA's for it. I'll check out your thread on the one w / 25's

With the .40's the Twinstar is a lot more fun.. The perfect motor seems to
be around the .32 / .36 high output motors... With the .25LAs is a good, easy,
not too expensive way to get into a good stable twin...
The current revise version of the Twinstar is even easier than what I had originally
done the thread with...
The addition should be in that thread before the 22nd of July... I am currently doing
the plane and will be delivering it to the owner in ATL on the 16th which is when maiden
and report with pics will be done.. Then when I to return to Chicago will post in thread...

I agree with Robby on the "Do it again part". It'll give you a chance to make any changes or improvements you might have thought of when flying the original. Either way, it'll surely turn out better in one way or another.

Oh the withdrawl i'm having . Maybe I'll do both. I saw a guy a few weeks back with the TwinStar ARF and Damm that thing flew nice, I think it had 40's, I know they weren't 25's. And again....for the price it's a nice little twin. Someday I'll grow up and be able to get a Big Boy Twin like a KMP P-38 or a B-25. But for now I'll settel for the heard of Beez'

Juz! I have the Twinstar with a pair of 40LA's on it. WOW What a screamer! The BEES should do nicely on it though. [8D]

Welp.. Another Twinstar is done...
And,, to answer JPK's question of what to do with .25LAs...

This one is done with .25LAs.. Will maiden it on Sat, weather permitting
in McDonough Ga at Henry County RC field...
Here is a pic showing it does have .25LAs on it...

I will be adding to the Twinstar build thread in regards to how
it works out with these motors..

Hey Primodus, Small world.... I thought the 40's would make it a screamer. I'm just afriad the 25's will be marginal at best. But hey let's see what Robby says after giveing this one a try. The little P-38 took awhile to get off the deck, I used the whole runway, but once it was up it flew fine, not a rocket, but good enough for what it was.
Once you get a twin in the hanger it's hard to not have another. even if it was just a little guy.................

Oki doki.. Just finish'd writing <a damn book> the entry on using the smaller motors..

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_26...tm.htm#3188367

Gotta tell ya.. Do NOT be affraid to use the smaller motors...

I would not call it marginal, but yes it will require some distance to get off
and no, it will not have much in the way of vertical as we normally expect
of our models.. However, flown in a scale like manner it shines and still has
a some room for goofing off...

Myself, I like flying 'on the edge'... So over powering is common for me..
Hence,, why I have one Twinstar with .52s on it...

I would have to go with:
If you want an easy, fun, enjoyable type of 'after work' flyer make it
with the .25s... Looks cool, sounds cool,, and flys well...
Less weight,, less fuel cost,, more flying time per flight...

What more could ya ask for...

Robby

Robby, Excellent reading material! You really did your homework on that one. Judging form my experience on the Twinstar with 40's, I have to say your review was spot on. Maybe now Juz will be convinced to get one of these sharp birds.

I've been in a dreaded move. MOVEING SUCKS.[:@]. My planes are spread every where. Hope to have things back in order buy next week.

BUT... the good news is I'm going for a Twinstar and I'll be using the 25's. I'm not looking for a rocket, just something to have a little fun with. Great job on the write up Robby.
it sounds like these little LA's will give me enough to have fun.

Thanks
Joe

Joe,, Tell you what.. If you don't like it with the .25's on it, just pack it
up and send it to me... I will like it..

And I know what you mean about moving.. Been doing it the last two weeks...
Only is worse than moving your residence... I am moving my retail store to
a high traffic area..
